God will Hassle you!

I have noticed in some situations in my life how those who love the Lord seem to sometimes be dealt with more swiftly and more harshly when the Lord corrects them than those who do not believe.  (Okay, okay, that is also how I felt about being "dealt"with!)  That is an observation rather than a statement of fact.

2 Chron 36 v 15:  And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent to them persistently by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.

My husband and I discuss this every now and then and we believe that God is so jealous for our love, and does not want to lose one of His own, that He tweaks you until you turn back to Him.  Does that make sense?  He literally does whatever it takes to get your attention back on Him and His way.  Why?  Because He loves us and knows what awaits us if we are lost to Him.

Now a post or 2 ago, I said God does not force Himself on us.  He doesn't, I don't believe!  But, I also believe that He does not want to lose us either.  So, He does not tie our hands behind our backs, He does not keep us captive!  No, He gently leans on you in ways only He knows are going to get your attention.  For some, its money!  For others, maybe health!  And yet for others, relationships, family, friends.  And in this way we realize our great need of Him and we turn back to Him and seek His forgiveness and His path.

Whatever it is, He uses what He can to bring us back to Him.

The unsaved?  I think He gives them chance after chance to make the decision for Him, themselves.  It often seems to me they get away with stuff but in reality, and in God's word, that is not true.  God is a gracious and patient God, but He will not wait forever!  But once you are a born again believer, He does not want you to be lost to the world again and wants to keep you close.  He reels you in quickly to prevent you from tumbling further!  And then He allows you the choice - tumble, stumble, or reach out for His hand?

I encourage you to strive to always keep close to the Lord, to prevent tumble and stumble and grazed knees due to our own pride and self-sufficiency!

God bless

  1. Good thoughts; I so agree Tracy. Once we are His, He doesn't want anything or anyone to take His place! If we try and substitute or put something or someone in front of Him (even temporarily) we are usually disappointed and hurt in the end. And yes; we are given many chances to be found again by His loving grace! Happy Monday sweet friend!

  2. Have a very blessed week.

  3. Although different, our blogs today are similar - that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it!!! Great post! Visiting from Word Filled Wednesday!

  4. Stopping by from Three Word Wednesday. Even though God gives us free choice to love and follow Him, His love for us is relentless. He will never stop wooing us! Have a blessed week!

  5. I agree that God does give us all (believers and unbelievers) chance after chance to make corrections. We view those who are Christians, but are not walking according to light, and yet their ministry seems to be blessed. We wonder why? Perhaps they know the right thing, but are hesitant to change, and God in his mercy is giving them time to make a quality decision. Thank you for sharing your wonderful post with us here at “Tell Me a Story.” At:

  6. God is Wonderfully patient but in the end we must choose. Thanks for sharing these thoughts so well.

  7. Hassle…nag or reminder. Reminds me of 2 Peter. I know you know but to stir you up by way of reminder…my paraphrase. He know perfectly what kind of reminders each of us need. Thankful for His tender care.

  8. I'm so grateful He never gives up on us. Hope you are having a blessed week. Thank you for sharing with TWW.

  9. I think you are right. There is a verse for this but it is too late, so I can't quote it.
