Winsome Wednesday - In HIS Presence....

When I figured out, for me, my word for 2014 was JOY I could see why!  On a day to day basis I'm cool.  I'm happy, content (sort of) and life is better now that an enormous burden has been lifted from our shoulders.  But, inside, I feel no JOY!  It doesn't bubble forth!  I know not to live on "feelings" but I sense this is more than just what I feel.

Its like my daughter.  She has iron deficiency anaemia.  She gets regular iron given intravenously but because her body won't absorb it, she constantly needs more given.  {As an aside, I'm trusting for the Lord to heal her completely of this}.  This is what I feel like with JOY!  I feel I get regular injections of JOY, a fun day, a great service, BUT... my heart is just not absorbing and retaining it!  THUS, my word for this year...

So in my attempt to seek JOY, God's JOY, I have come across this scripture:
Ps 16v11:  You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at You right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

WOW!  What an answer!  If I want JOY in all its fullness, I need to be in my Father's presence.  I need to soak Him and His word up.  I need more than emergency bible study, you know, when you hit the bible for help when in need?!  I need to immerse myself in His word!

In a previous POST I spoke about reading the BIBLE through like any other book that I read, not on a timetable but as and when I would ordinarily read a book for relaxation etc (on top of normal quiet times mind you) and I find that in this I am immersing myself more in the Lord.  Its a start!  And I know that the Lord's word is precious, alive and you do not read it and remain the same.  I know I will have fullness of JOY - in God's presence.

My encouragement for you today is to immerse yourself in God!  If like me you need more!  More JOY, more love, more hope, more faith!  Immerse yourself in His presence!

God bless

  1. Good advice Tracy! I like your post.

  2. When He gave me the word Joy for the year I knew too that much time in His word would be required. I'm behind in my goal to read through the Bible this year but I'm pressing on! Happy almost Wednesday to you, friend. :)

  3. Thanks for this post Tracy ! I've been learning how to simply enjoy and to daily walk in the presence of God. It's not an easy task but when we do spend time and walk in his presence our lives are so much more richer and blessed and true joy certainly bubbles up ! Thanks so much for sharing this.

  4. Joy is more often a choice. I, too, am learning to choose Joy! I just did a post on how joy is as ordinary as your kitchen apron:) I think that when those burdens are lifted off of us, we enter a time of refreshing - contentment like you call it - and kind of like the children of Israel had to learn to live outside of bondage - we have to learn how to live without those burdens - kind of like someone who has been bedridden and builds up their strength to walk again! So glad you are where you are in your journey right now!

  5. Psalm 16:11 is one of my all-time favorite verses. It's in His presence that we find joy that won't fade! Joining with you in prayer for your daughter's complete healing...

  6. Yes, and amen! My sister recently talked to me about where I was *camping out* in my life. And, if I'm not in the presence of the Lord, I'm not in a good place! I continue to seek His face so that I can experience the fullness of HIS joy.

  7. Amen Tracy! A great and encouraging word full of JOY!!!!! Blessings xxx

  8. Reading the Word every day is exactly how I get and keep my joy.. Ben when life sucks, it's still pretty good :)
    I'll pray for your daughter..
