Book Blog Tour for Kelly Martin

Today I am joining Kelly in promoting her book "Crossing the Deep" which is a Christian novel written for the youth market.  Kelly is an amazing writer whose blogs you can find HERE (Encourage365) and HERE (Kelly Martin - Author).  Kelly writes with depth and a sense of humour that first caught my eye when I was blog hopping.  I hope you enjoy the following promo for her book.  And should you wish to, there is a link to purchase her book on line HERE at Amazon!
God bless, Tracy

Then the Lord said to Job,
“Do you still want to argue with the Almighty?
You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?”
Job 40:1-2
One of my favorite things to read in the Bible is God’s ‘smack down’ on Job. Truthfully, I feel bad for Job. Here he is, all upset over his kids’ dying, and he does what we all do—we blame God.
It’s like now days when we watch the news. God doesn’t get credit for sunny, beautiful days—but if a hurricane or an earthquake happens, it is “An Act of God.” Both acts are from God, but He only gets credit for the bad things.
With Job, he was still breathing, but Job blamed God for all the bad. Can’t we all relate? I know I can. I get upset when things don’t go my way… when I can’t see God’s plan… when I just want to give up because it doesn’t make sense to me.
I started thinking about this a lot when I started writing the book, CROSSING THE DEEP (Astraea Press). When he was younger, Asher had something horrible happen to him. It scarred him and ever since, he questioned God. Like Job, Asher didn’t see the big picture. He had a lot of questions, a lot of pain, a lot of hurt, a lot of anger—and decided he didn’t need or want to believe in God. His ‘arc’ is dealing with the pain and deciding what is important in his life.
Are you God’s critic? Do you fuss and fight when things don’t go your way? Do you like to tell God what to do and get mad when He doesn’t go along with your plan? This is something I know I need to pray about. Can you join me?
--Kelly Martin is an author, teacher, mommy, wife, sleep-deprived lady (not necessarily in that order.) Her first book, CROSSING THE DEEP, is available now from,, and Her second book, SAINT SLOAN, will be available in late winter 2013.
“If you have a better idea, I’m all for it,” he answered, and she knew he meant it. She didn’t think he wanted to leave her either.
“I wish,” she said, reading the verse again to herself. “Do you want me to read some to you?”
“Trying to convert me?”
“You are on a church trip. Kind of our thing.”
“Church trip ended yesterday,” he said.
Rachel lay back on her elbow and shined the flashlight in his general direction to see him better. The light made him squint. She took more pleasure in that than she should have.
“Why did you come?” she asked straight out. If he was going to leave her, by golly she was getting answers.
“It appears that God sent me to take care of you.”
“Don’t joke about God.”
“Sorry — sorry.” He had his hands behind his head and his eyes were fixed on the ceiling. When Rachel had given up on him answering, he said, “I had to come.”
He bit his lip, making Rachel that much more curious. “I was spending the night with Sid,” he sighed. “My Aunt Carol was supposed to be home this weekend, but she called and said something had come up. Not unusual for her. I came because I had nowhere else to go.”

  1. Oooooh! Love the preview.
Doesn't take too much to hook me though, and this is fabulous.
I often tell God what to do and how to do it and get miffed when He does things His own way, I thought I was alone in this.
