How much does God love us?

John 13 v 1:  Now before the Passover Feast began, Jesus knew (was fully aware) that the time had come for Him to leave this world and return to the Father.  And as He loved those who were His own in the world, He loved them to the last and to the highest degree.

John 3 v 16:  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Hebrews 12 v 2:  Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Ephesians 5 v 25(b): Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

I think there can be no doubt that God loves us so much, whoever we are, and whatever we have done, that He gave up His son, as a living sacrifice for us, to take on all our sins so that we would not have to.

How should we respond to that?
  • We should be humbled
  • We should be in awe, can you imagine doing that for someone?
  • We should give our all to Him, mind, body, soul
Yesterday, as we were leaving a shopping mall, a youngster had locked her keys in her car.  Someone was trying to help but this is something my husband has helped lots of people to do so he took over and within a few minutes he had her car open.  The previous guy had been struggling for a while.  My husband struggled for a while and then wahlah, it was open.  The girl's first response was "wow, thank-you, what can I do for you?" and her second response because she was so happy was "wow, I love you!"

Maybe that should be our response to the Lord's ultimate sacrifice.  "Wow, thank You Lord - I love You" and "what can I do for You to thank you?"

God bless

  1. Thanks T, I did wonder what you'd be posting today. I love that your hubs is so talented at a myriad of things. Breaking and entering just another thing I can add to my list of his talents. While friendship is high on my list of your talents, joke creation - not so much.
    Have a blessed weekend.

  2. Awesome little story to make a good point. Wonderful, TKT! THANK YOU! :) Have a happy weekend with your family. :)

  3. We had a beautiful Good Friday service tonight that was so perfect and illustrated this well. I loved your post. Thank you for the reminder that we can never be too grateful or too much in awe of what He has done for us.
    Sundays' coming! He is risen!

  4. AMEN! Thanks for the lovely comments on my blog (ladyintheskirt) God bless and happy easter dear!
