My "One Word" for 2017

I have been simplifying my life.  Getting rid of unnecessary junk, using leftover wool to make something useful, tidying the odd cupboard slowly but surely.  Throwing away broken stuff, giving away stuff we no longer use, but that still can be used, etc... I am doing the same thing with my blog.

I decided to delete myself off twitter.... lots of followers, and following lots of people but I never give it any attention... Just a time-waste for me.  I am contemplating leaving Facebook too......or instagram......?!?

I cannot let go of my blog though but I do want to get back to what it was originally intended for.

When I first started blogging it was a journal of sorts, but as I linked up with so many like-minded women over the years it was about encouraging others and being encouraged.  I have sort of lost the plot this last year!  I have lost my footing and instead of offering some encouragement, I have offered none!!!!  👀 NOT good!!!

So, to refresh my memory, the following are My Blog Goals
  • My goal is to be encouraging and positive
  • I want to journal what I feel God wants me to write
  • I will write my blog not desiring responses, but really grateful and encouraged to receive them
  • My blog is not about my day to day life, unless its to make a point in a message
  • If I can make someone smile, thats good too!
  • As much as I enjoy blogging, my family must not lose out because I'm glued to the computer
  • Most importantly, if I can point anyone to God and His word, I would have achieved my goal.

Isaiah 50 v 4(a):  The Lord God has given me the tongue of a disciple and one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.

This scripture is my goal for my blog!

So, in my attempt to streamline things in my life and thus in my blog, I have removed some pages, removed stuff I never use, and decided to focus on those things that are important to me.  Like encouragement!  I love encouraging others, and have found that very hard in 2016... Not sure why, but my goal for 2017 is to bring "encouragement" back!

Having said all of the above, I have decided on my "one word" for 2017!

Consistency!

Yes, you didn't see that one coming hey! 😉

I find that I am not consistent in going to church, reading the word, reaching out to others, eating healthily, exercising, blogging, etc etc... Now, I am not trying to change the world or myself overnight.  Just one thing at a time, and to achieve consistency in those things, one at a time.  Starting off with the most important of all these things, spending time in the Word!!!!  Refresh, renew, restore, daily!

In line with my word, for now my scripture for the year is as follows:

1 Corinthians 15:58:  Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].

So, this is my word for 2017.... what is yours?

God bless
Tracy

  2. Good word Tracy! Loving that you are getting back to blogging more and trying to be consistent in all things good. You know me...same type of issues! Thus my word for the year. It is quite different and I know my word is from the Lord. It's His name...Jesus. I was reading something about Him and clear as day I knew. Needing to think of Him in every situation, good or bad. Dwell on Him more than ever before and let Jesus be Lord of my life giving Him full reign.

    1. Wow Chelle, that is awesome. To consistently in all things focus on Jesus is the only way to get through tough stuff, see the joy in all circumstances and experience peace unknown. Great word

  3. I love your word, and I love all of your blogs goals! I feel a kindred spirit, I feel the need to leave social networks as well. I left twitter last year, facebook earlier this fall, and I deactivated my instagram a few days ago. I feel like it makes me more content in my life not to have it. Thanks for sharing, and I've enjoyed following you!

    1. Hi Stacy, firstly, thank you for your encouragement. I truly appreciate it. And secondly, I am debating leaving both facebook and instagram shortly. I just have to make sure its for the right reasons, and permanent so that I don't keep coming back and rejoining. Thanks too for always popping over. To be more CONSISTENT in replying and following up on my blog and those who chat with me, is something I intend getting right this year. Actually, considering how much time facebook and instagram take, I think I may have found the solution as to where to find the time to focus on my blog again :O lol

  5. Haha, I did not see that coming :) I actually liked 'encouragement'... but okay, consistency makes sense as well. I do not have a word, but I might think about it. Thanks.

    1. Hi Marja, I never used to have a "word" or scripture for the year. Always reams of new years resolutions, and always the same ones lol. But I love how I can focus on one thing, for a year, that impacts on a lot of other things. Have an awesome 2017 my friend

  7. I love your word! Mine is Standing (as in Romans 5:2). It's good to hear from you again. I still have your blog link up listed on my site. Any plans to resurrect Winsome Wednesday in 2017?

  8. Thanks for sharing this, Tracy.

My word for 2017 is "Shine." For Him. For the Kingdom. For His glory.

I love the Amplified version of 1 Corinthians 15:58 that you shared, especially, "[even to the point of exhaustion]". It's not wasted, not overlooked. I'm coming off a long period of exhaustion and eager to see the fruit of that labor. I trust He'll show me in His perfect timing.

    Have a blessed year!

    1. Hi Cathy, Shine is a great word. It is those women who shine when you know that things are not easy for them, that draw you closer to Christ. Great word for 2017

  9. I love your word for 2017 and I love everything you write!! For five years now ( can you believe that? ) you have been a sister in Christ, blogging buddy, prayer partner over the pond and most importantly a precious friend to me who's truth never fails to lift me up and hold me during life's storms!! My word this year is "Expect" and I am holding our daddy God to all his promises and expect to see them all manifest! Hopefully one will be having tea/coffee with you in Cape Town. Thanks for sharing once again such an amazing truth that my heart needed to hear. xoxoxoxo

    1. Hi Stacey, Expect is a great word. I think we try not to "expect" for fear of asking for the wrong motives, or asking at all. I think to "expect" what the Lord has promised, is a great thing, a step of faith and a great witness. God bless my friend. One day we will do tea/coffee in the flesh!!!
