Dissolve Disappointment!

I was so excited about doing this thing and I could not wait for the results to see how well it was going, and....

Not much happened!

I was so disappointed!  So, muttering under my breath I resolved to plod on and if nothing more came of it, I'd quit and change direction,

and then God....

He reminded me that I need to be thankful for what did come of it!  I need to change my attitude from one of disappointment to one of thankfulness and its in this attitude change that what I set out to achieve and what I did achieve, will line up and be a blessing both to me, and for whom it was intended.

God wants us to view things through the eyes of thankfulness.  So much changes when we do!

So, today I am thankful for a new day, a new opportunity to encourage, a new opportunity to be creative, a new day for relationships and growth, a new day to reflect on God's word!  Yes, today I am thankful.

Ps 100 v 4-5:  (4) Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving and His courts with praise.  Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name. (5) For the Lord is good;  His mercy and loving kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness [endures] to all generations.

God bless
Tracy

  2. I like that: dissolve disappointment. I heard a teaching once from Bill Johnson 'how to overcome disappointment', that was so good, it really changed my perspective.... but I need to be reminded from time to time... thank you for this post :)

  3. Unfortunately, I am someone that can be disappointed easily. I live too much in expectations rather than in thankfulness.

I appreciate the reminder you shared here that as a Child of God I have much to be thankful for.

    1. Hi Karen, I know the feeling. I often tell myself, "no expectations, no disappointments" However, I do not believe the Lord wants us to think like this. Still trying to find the balance there :)
      God bless

  4. Oh I am SO glad I am in the presence of like 'minded' people. I too have my 'ouch - not what I expected' moments where as only part of what transpired hadn't worked out. I ought to be more focussed on the bits that DO work. Thank you Tracy!
    Blessings to you!

  5. I was just praying yesterday for His help in stopping myself from allowing others to steal my joy. To keep focused on His face and not "self". I have found walking on the path of "self" only leads to disappointment. Focusing on Him - doing all things for Him - disappointment can't come in and steal away the joy of living for and "in" Him!

  7. Tracy this is my first visit here and what a honest and heart felt post you have shared here. I can relate to those feelings of disappointment you shared but as you said: I am learning to keep the focus on God and not myself. He is the one who has blessed us with abilities and gifts. He welcomed me into His family and for that I am beyond thankful. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we should have joy in our heart and peace in our soul as we seek to glorify Him. So nice to "meet" you here today. Have a wonderful weekend and may God bless you and yours in all your endeavors!

    1. Hi Bethany, don't you love how when you need to "hear" or "read" something, God puts it there for us to find?

  9. Thank you for sharing your awesome thoughts and site with us here at Tell me a True Story. I understand who at times we are disappointed when we think things should have gone better. I thank God for the 10 to 15 persons who show up for prayer on Wed to hear my lesson and then pray. It would be nice to have a larger crowd, but God know who should be there so I am content.

  10. Seems to me that disappointment is somehow the opposite of contentment. And I am usually disappointed when I try to *rig* the results in my favor, instead of letting God have His way with the timing, and the outcome.

    Good lesson. I'm still learning...

    GOD BLESS!

  11. and then God.... Isn't it amazing at how God can nudge us enough to bring us back to reality? I love how He does that! We have so much to be thankful for, all we have to do is stop and look around. Thanks for linking up with Thankful Thursdays.
