I don't think anyone can have too much wisdom. Godly wisdom that is. I think the more Godly wisdom one seeks and obtains the more one realizes how little we know, how insignificant we are in the big picture, how gracious our God is that He cares about every hair on our heads....
And I love Proverbs. I never fail to find some new morsel of much needed wisdom when reading through it. I have heard it said that there are 31 chapters of Proverbs, one for each day of the month. And I think this is an awesome plan for myself to start this year in my quest for seeking wisdom. However, there is so much more wisdom in the pages of the bible and to find it is my goal this year. To seek it out and get to know it better and have it be a part of my being.
In James 1 vs 5 it says: If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
It goes on further to say in vs 6: Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.
I believe from these verses that God wants me to seek out His wisdom and in doing so, if I seek in faith, He will give liberally and willingly.
Yes, I want to be wise. It would certainly help in my day to day life because I definitely could do with a BIG dose of wisdom most days. There have been those older women in my life over the years who have exuded that grace and wisdom and quiet confidence that comes from spending lots of time with God, and who have gotten through the good times and the bad, with God. And I have always thought that I would like to be like that one day. I want to be a woman that other women look to for wisdom and grace and acceptance, and love, and guidance in their life walk.

Hey there, glad you've chosen a word too.
ReplyDeleteMy word is Settle and I am very happy with it so far. Not as a settle for second best thing, but as a stop striving and settle content kinda thing.
Hi Stefanie, I like your word! I have to work on contentment allllll the time. Can't wait to get together for a cuppa sometime soon!

A great and mighty word, Tracy. A fitting word to follow your year of JOY. As James tell us, we are promised that if we seek wisdom and God's guidance with our whole heart, then we will find it. And it is a treasure indeed. I look forward to seeing what He reveals to you in this journey.
ReplyDeleteMy word is HEALING - and I wonder what God will teach me?!
GOD BLESS!
Hi Sharon, I can't wait to follow your journey and see all the Lord does for and with you.

When I grow up I want to be one of those women who exudes wisdom, too! :) This is a great word for 2015! My word is "expectancy"! I'm expecting great things from our great God!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joan
Hi Joan, Expectancy is such a great word. Such a positive word. I look forward to seeing what the Lord does here :)

I love your word, Tracy! How I long for more wisdom, too! And how gracious our Heavenly Father to lavishly and unbegrudgingly GIVE it to us, if we but ask for it. So, what is my word for this year....I am STILL trying to figure it out...I am getting closer. I know what it is, in a way, but to find one word to really condense it down into is hard. Still seeking God's face about it, but hoping to post it soon!! God bless you and grant you the desires of your heart this year, Tracy!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, I trust the Lord will lead you to your one word for this year. I have no doubt that whatever it is He will use it to grow you closer to Him

Moments . . .
ReplyDeleteHi Veronica, such a great word, almost to make sure you remember them and document them... Great way to make sure you recognize God in your day to day
DeleteGod bless
Wisdom - a great choice, Tracy. I want to continue growing in that as well. And one way certainly is to do what you're doing--focusing on it in your relationship with God. I know he'll bless you richly for it.
ReplyDeleteMy one word this year is "now." I want to be more aware of God's presence in THIS moment, the one where he is actively at work.
Hi Lisa, Now is a great word. I think it speaks to recognizing God in every moment. What an impact that would have if we all did that. I look forward to your blogging about it

I love wisdom Tracy, Proverbs 8 is my favorite chapter and the basis for my book MY NEIGHBOR's HOUSE :)
ReplyDeleteMy two words: LIVE IT
Hi Marja, Live it is great. Seems a lot of the "words" coming out are about being present, recognizing God in the moments, and in our every day with expectation. Now is certainly one of those. I pray He shows you His hand as your LIVE IT
