Winsome Wednesday - Suffer the Consequences!!!!

So, for the last while I have been reading the bible like a novel, like I would any other good book that I would get in my hands.  I wrote a post about it not so long ago and let me tell you a consequence I am suffering as a result thereof!

Most sitcoms are irritating me!  I tune into my favourites and after 5 minutes I'm bored with it, or disgusted!  Those things that I normally choose to ignore, you know what I mean, sexual innuendo, worldly behaviour, not so healthy relationships, not so healthy advice.... All these things I am starting to see in a different, brighter light!  On the one hand, I'm annoyed!  Seriously, what am I supposed to watch now for a giggle?  On the other hand, I recognize how my mind, and my home is being polluted watching these things.

Sigh.... The Consequences

Having said all that, when it is the Light of the Lord illuminating a problem, one is not overly sad to make a change.  Its not the same as someone saying, "Tracy, you shouldn't be watching that stuff", and then I dig my heels in.  When the Lord illuminates the issue, you make that decision for yourself!  So, there will be less giggles in my household from sitcoms, AND.... I am not sad about that!

2 Sam 22 v 31:  As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried.  He is a Shield to all those who trust and take refuge in Him.

My encouragement to you is to read the Word!  It changes you from the inside out without you even noticing (at first)!  Yep, there are consequences.... but they are GOOD!

God bless
Tracy

Winsome Wednesday - What Spirit is Influencing You?

I have found lately that my attitude has been affected by the decisions of those around me.  Those who have maybe not chosen what I feel the Lord would have had them choose.  And then I hear in my head, "well, going that route may be painful or not God's first choice for me, but is it so bad?"  And I realize that my mind is starting to be influenced by this spirit which is not of the Lord - FOR ME!

Now the choices made by those around me may be right for them.  It may be how the Lord is guiding them or leading them.  But I know what the Lord expects of me, I know what, for me, is His will in my life with regards to these things!  And I know that what I have been seeing around me is not what He wants for me.

Now I am in no way criticising the choices of others.  Its like a diet!  It may work for you and it may have awesome results - for you - BUT, it is not meant for me!  It makes me feel hungry all the time, or unsatisfied, etc.  Another diet that does not work for you, may work for me.

So, although in this I am struggling, I know that what the Lord wants for me I must keep seeking!  I must keep trying!  I must never give up!  Until the Lord says otherwise.

I read a statement on facebook this week that really summarized my feelings about this for me.  It is:
  • Good things come to those who believe
  • Better things come to those who wait
  • And the best things come to those who NEVER give up!
I found myself questioning what has been influencing my thinking?  Is it God's word, or the actions of others and how that seems to be working for them?   Well, I suppose one just has to spend some proper time in the word to figure out exactly whether we are walking/thinking as God would have us.

Valentine's Day opened my eyes to pushing through.  I decided to consider 1 Corinth 13 v 4-8 as it speaks of love and these scriptures led me to understand, it is God's way to never give up on us, I need to never give up too!  THAT is love!

So, my encouragement to you today is to consider what is influencing your thinking?  God's word?  Or the actions of those around you?

God bless

Winsome Wednesday - You Choose!

Morning ladies.  Firstly, sorry I missed last week's Winsome Wednesday and thank you for coming over today.  I pray your day is blessed and fruitful.

Pinterest is ever a font of wonderful pictures and sayings.  This one gripped me today:

Prov 18 v 21:  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit!
Quite profound!  Which fruit are you wanting to eat today?

God bless

Time Out!

I'm needing a little time out.  I'm needing to spend more time in the Word!  I'm needing a break!

I'm sounding a little needy right?! (smiles)

The thing is I have nothing to say right now yet I know there is lots going on in my head and heart.  I just can't get any of it to line up into sentences!  So I am taking a break from blogging so I can make some sense of it all and trust the Lord to be able to use it here to encourage others.  Right now, if I wrote on my blog what is in my head, I may confuse, not encourage.

So, I will be doing more visiting as opposed to writing.  I want to absorb!  Be a sponge!  I want to spend lots more time in the Word.  Not to be a goody two shoes, but because I NEED to!  (There I go being all needy again, lol!)

I hope, no, I intend, to be back here soon!  Could be a week, a month, but I will be back!  I love this space and all my friend here.  You bless me and encourage me!  BUT:  Winsome Wednesday will stay open, even if its just a picture and a scripture until the Lord gives me more to say because I love seeing you all there.

I hadn't chosen a scripture for this year.  Two years back when I decided to choose a scripture for the year instead of New Year's resolutions I chose Matt 6 v 33.  And I feel that this is appropriate for me now again as I KNOW the only way forward in life is to be absorbed in the Lord and His Word and I am not.  So, back to basics for me ladies!

Matt 6 v 33:  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

See you soon
God bless

The Right Track!

Today I would like to take this opportunity to thank you ladies who follow and comment on my blog.  You are a great encouragement to me and without even knowing it, you have helped me through some tough stuff the last few years.

You have helped me focus on the Lord, you have helped me keep perspective, and you have shown me grace.  You help keep me on the right track!  For all these gifts I am thankful.

1 Thess 5 v 11:  Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.

You are doing a great job of encouraging the sisterhood in Christ!  You are blessed and you bless others.
Thank you!

God bless
Tracy
