Yes, I realized it in this situation. Yes, I realized it in that situation. I even felt it in another situation. And yes, patience was something I figured out for a completely different situation.
AND then it hit me!
I AM GOING THROUGH A SEASON OF LEARNING PATIENCE
Can I just say...... URGHHHHHHH!
Patience is not my favourite personal trait. Nope, I get good at it in one small area and it completely flounders in another. I think I will request of the Lord to rather give me an abundance of patience as apposed to giving me situations in which patience is required! Long sighhhhh!
Having said all that, I realize that my life is about patience right now and obviously the Lord wishes to deal with this "not so good" trait of mine, NOW!
We are the microwave society aren't we. We want results NOW. We want answers NOW. We want solutions NOW. We want healing NOW. We want peace NOW! We basically want it NOW.
It is obvious to me at the moment though, that God wants me to be patient. He wants me to have a better attitude in the waiting. He wants me to inhale, exhale, and praise Him and show faith by waiting with a heart that KNOWS the Lord will not let me down. He wants me to exude patience! He wants me to "talk" and "walk" faith in the waiting. He wants me to smile and wave, if that's all I can do. :)
I read a tweet recently that kind of hit my attitude in the face:
"Does YOUR life reflect what YOU claim to believe? Is God really YOUR peace, strength, security, and HOPE? Then LIVE like you BELIEVE it!"
Ummmm, no, this has not been my attitude or demeanour AT ALL!
If you are going through something similar, I encourage you today to join me as I seek out scripture about patience and waiting and being content in the waiting. That's a biggie too. God's word always changes my heart! Lets do this! Let us be the ones who by our lives encourage others to hang in there with a smile on their faces, because of the Lord.
Romans 12 v 12: Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.
Galatians 6 v 9: And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.
Romans 5 v 3-4: Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in out sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. (4) And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.
