Winsome Wednesday - Making a House a Home

So we are in!  5 days already.  We are exhausted!!!  And happy!!!  Now its time to make the house a home.

That is what we all should be working at in our relationships!  With each other, with our work space, or living space, our spiritual space.... that is, our relationship with the Lord!  We need to grow and learn and seek and lean into Him so that the house that is this relationship, becomes a home.

What do I mean by that?
  • Our relationship with the Lord should ultimately be a safe space, safe from storms, our hiding place.
  • Our relationship with the Lord should be a place where we receive nourishment, and sustenance.
  • Our relationship with the Lord is a place where we constantly work at improving and maintaining and repairing (seeking forgiveness when needed and seeking the Lord more to get to know Him more).
  • Our relationship with the Lord should be comfortable, yes, but because we maintain it, keep the "rooms" in our lives clean and free from "dirt" (sin) where we can sit at His feet and exhale with a smile on our faces.
  • Our relationship with the Lord should be where we can run to when we hurt or need alone time or need to cry or seek comfort from the hurts of the world.
  • Our relationship with the Lord should be where we can draw others in, to know Him...

Yes, God should be our home....

Psalm 90 v 1:  Lord, You have been our dwelling place and our refuge in all generations [says Moses].

In moving into a new house we see ourselves changing and personalizing this space into a home we can enjoy and flourish in.  It has made me think about how God is my home spiritually and there is no other place I would rather be.

God bless
Tracy
PS:  Thank you to all you lovely ladies who wished us well and prayed for us in our move.  It is MUCH appreciated :)

  4. When He is our dwelling place we can maintain that relationship well. Maintenance is always work, and usually the effort is worth it, yet here with God, the effort isn't as much about our working as it is about our resting and making Him our habitation. Thanks for the reminder today.

    Bless you!
