Winsome Wednesday - Suffer the Consequences!!!!

So, for the last while I have been reading the bible like a novel, like I would any other good book that I would get in my hands.  I wrote a post about it not so long ago and let me tell you a consequence I am suffering as a result thereof!

Most sitcoms are irritating me!  I tune into my favourites and after 5 minutes I'm bored with it, or disgusted!  Those things that I normally choose to ignore, you know what I mean, sexual innuendo, worldly behaviour, not so healthy relationships, not so healthy advice.... All these things I am starting to see in a different, brighter light!  On the one hand, I'm annoyed!  Seriously, what am I supposed to watch now for a giggle?  On the other hand, I recognize how my mind, and my home is being polluted watching these things.

Sigh.... The Consequences

Having said all that, when it is the Light of the Lord illuminating a problem, one is not overly sad to make a change.  Its not the same as someone saying, "Tracy, you shouldn't be watching that stuff", and then I dig my heels in.  When the Lord illuminates the issue, you make that decision for yourself!  So, there will be less giggles in my household from sitcoms, AND.... I am not sad about that!

2 Sam 22 v 31:  As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried.  He is a Shield to all those who trust and take refuge in Him.

My encouragement to you is to read the Word!  It changes you from the inside out without you even noticing (at first)!  Yep, there are consequences.... but they are GOOD!

God bless
Tracy

  2. We can't help but have our hearts and minds changed when we saturate ourselves with Him! What a wonderful consequence to have to "suffer"! lol I know God loves humor and He'll show you other ways you and your family can enjoy laughter, but isn't it great that He is opening your eyes to things that are not of Him?

  3. This happens to me a lot.. It's not just TV either.. It's books I read (or used to) music I listen to, even conversations I have or people I hang out with.. The funniest thing though? Swearing never bothered me until I got into the Word.. I never even noticed it when people talked to me.. Now I notice every word, and I even find it offensive :) I guess that's what happens when The Holy Spirit moves in.. If it bothers Him, it's going to bother us too :)
    Thanks for the link up!

  4. Isn't it great how reading God's word truly renews our mind and the Holy Spirit brings a gentle, loving conviction from within. Reading His word like a novel reminds me of how I drank in His word in those early days with Him. I have to get back to that again.
    Blessings,

  5. Wonderful, Tracy! It is so true, the Holy Spirit SHOULD convict us, and He does, it's what we choose to do about it. Thank you for the reminder! ♥

  6. I agree, Tracy! It is getting more and more difficult to watch much of anything on T.V. anymore...many times we have done the same - either changed the channel or just turned the T.V. off and found something else to do. It's not worth the price we pay to just watch it because there's nothing better on!
    Blessings to you!

  7. Dear Tracy, I just wanted to tell you that I have really enjoyed your heart and the intent of your posts and also your Blog Hop,. Your intent is not to have everyone come and prove you have my address at the bottom of each post! If and when I ever do a Blog Link up it will be hopefully the same forum you have chosen.
I think it is very exciting that your spiritual eyes have been opened soooo wide :o)
I had a dream a few weeks ago and the Lord spoke to me and told me to clean out my ears! Wow, this has impacted me in a huge way! Now, mine you I feel like I am pretty conservative as it is. Anyways, I enjoy visiting you!

  8. Hi Tracy,
Kind of like a good problem, huh? Great post. There really is getting to be less and less we can watch. But, it's okay. We have what we need...Jesus.
    Blessings to you

  9. I understand. Reading God's Word does increase one's intolerance for many worldly things. And, I also find that it makes me mourn more for those who are lost.

    Blessings, Tracy.

May a perfect Lord bring a smile to you today!
