Winsome Wednesday - Interesting Point?!

I read this in a Christian novel by Susan May Warren, called "You don't know me".   Really caught my attention.  It kind of gives a more rounded deeper meaning to marriage.  Maybe even a longer term one, like the marriage of Christ with His bride, the church.  If we learn to grow and develop in our marriages and thus become more like God wants us to be, then we as the bride are being prepared for our marriage supper with the Lord.  Just my musings....
Rev 19 v 7:  Let us rejoice and shout for joy [exulting and triumphant]!  Let us celebrate and ascribe to Him glory and honour, for the marriage of the Lamb [at last] has come, and His bride has prepared herself.

What are your thoughts?

God bless

One step at a time...

Found on Pinterest (don't you love Pinterest?)

My encouragement to you is never give up.  No matter how it looks, God is working things out for your good.  It may not seem so, it may not look like it, it may not feel like it, BUT He is.

Ps 62 v 1-2:  Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation.  (2) He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

Now, I can't say that I have waited "silently" for the Lord, but I have waited, and waited, and waited!  And my faith has taken much punishment.  But, I believe that for which I am waiting for, is just around the corner because this past week God has been throwing word my way!  Literally sending my faith sky high.  I have never experienced God so close to me personally in a situation.  Now, having said that, I am not all warm and fuzzy.  My emotions are not all explosive and erupting.  But inside, inside feels renewed, inside feels strong!  Inside feels like all the cracks of a broken jar have been fixed and repaired and now filled with God's love.  I am learning that the God-truth of a situation does not necessarily line up with how things FEEL!

My encouragement to you:  NEVER GIVE UP!  God will come through for you IN HIS TIME!

God bless my friends

When God uses People - Guest posting at She Stands

I love how God uses people and I love it and am humbled by when the Lord sometimes uses me in some small way.  I love when someone is desperate for a touch, a word, from God and... they get it.  I love when one is in church and you see how people have been touched by God.

I WANT THAT TOO..

I WANT THAT... for me too.

Winsome Wednesday - Wise Ways!

They say if you want to know more how to relate to God, read the Psalms.  And if you want to relate better to man, read Proverbs!   I love the book of Proverbs.  It cuts to the chase!  So many gems in Proverbs!  Today I am feeling challenged by Prov 3 v 17:  Her (Wisdom's) ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her (Wisdom's) paths are peace.  Amen and amen.

It is wise to be pleasant in your ways and when demonstrating Godly Wisdom.  A person can be wise and be arrogant in attitude.  That attitude cancels out the benefit of the wisdom because it becomes about the attitude.

In Prov 4 v 6 it says:  Do not forsake her (Wisdom), and she (Wisdom) will preserve you.

My encouragement and challenge to you is seek Godly wisdom, but in the using of it, be pleasant!  So God gets the glory and you the benefit.

God bless
Tracy

Trust your Operator!

TABLE MOUNTAIN - one of the 7 wonders of the world and we live in its shadow (sort of).  I've lived here 25 years and been up top 3 times.  This past weekend was the 3rd time and I was not amused!!!  It was hot and windless at the bottom and you think, "Okay, cool, the cable car is going to be secure and pleasant.  The last cable car down is at 9.30pm at night, lots of time to mess around up top!"

Well, we were literally arriving at the top when the clouds started spilling over, freezing cold with gale force winds.  There is a sign as you climb out the cable car that says "If you hear the hooter, hurry to the cable cars quickly."   Hmmm, ominous much?

Devil's Peak and Robin Island in the background!
After 15 minutes (yes, only 15 min) of hunkering down and trying a path or two, heading for the coffee shop for something to warm you up, the hooter went off!  Really?!  Really?!  So I start thinking, "How is that cable car going to send us down if its dangerous?  Why are these people smiling?  What is wrong with them?  Don't they realize how HIGH we are?"  Not great internal communing I know!

But the point is, I had to trust the operator's judgement!  They were smiling, so, its got to be okay right?!  Its the same with life!  God knows the lay of the land.  He knows what is coming and how much we can handle.

So, I need to trust my day, my life, to Him, my life operator, no matter how windy and cold it can get in a heartbeat!

Prov 3 v 5-6:  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; (6) in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

My encouragement to you, trust God in your life, no matter the emotional or situational weather!  He has it all figured out.

God bless
Tracy

Winsome Wednesday - What scripture grabbed you this week?

For me it is:  Nahum 1 vs 3:  The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked.   The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.

That's saying it like it is right?!

Leave a scripture that has grabbed you in the comments section so we all can be encouraged and uplifted by God's word.

God bless
Tracy

Praise, Thanksgiving, Worship!

My husband and I read through Psalm 6 and 7 the other morning.  Great encouraging scriptures about how God will see to our enemies and they won't get away with their behaviour and how God is there for you.  It was a powerful reminder that God sees all.  But having read the 2 chapters which are short and sweet and to the point, the last verse of chapter 7 stood out most for me:
Ps 7 vs 7:  I will thank the Lord because He is just; I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

For me, I felt the Lord pointing out to me to leave my enemies in His hands, leave my hurts and disappointments with people for Him to deal with.  My job is to praise Him, sing praises to Him, honour Him, give a sacrifice of thanksgiving.

These are my part in God working in my circumstances.
Praise
Worship
Thanksgiving

His work?
  • He hears my supplication
  • He receives my prayer
  • He deals with my enemy
  • He protects me
  • He prevents me from being put to shame by my enemy
  • He is just!
His job is far more intense and He is equipped to do all He sets out to do.  My job is to give Him glory as He works to give me the victory.

My encouragement to you, no matter your circumstance, especially if you have no answers, no solutions, praise Him, worship Him, give Him honour and glory and thanksgiving.  When you do that He gives you the strength and durability to stand firm while He fights on your behalf.

God bless
Tracy

Winsome Wednesday - Guard your Heart!

What does it mean to guard your heart?

I think that God speaks to us through our hearts and I reckon the devil knows that and uses that avenue too. That is why it is so important to make sure where, what our hearts tell us, is coming from.

How do you do that?
We have to test what our hearts tell us or where our hearts are leading us against God's word.  Does it line up with the Word?  Yes and Amen! Its God guiding you.  If it doesn't line up with the Word? Yes and Amen, absolutely discount and disown it and replace it with the truth of God's word.

Sound too simple?
Well, really, it is that simple.  It is us with our emotions and our agendas that complicate things.

I leave you with this exhortation:
Prov 4 v 23-27:  (23) keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
(24) Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.
(25) Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.
(26) Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.
(27) Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.

God bless
Tracy

Not finished painting yet....

We bought paint in July last year and with enthusiasm started painting.  But... we gave up after painting one bedroom and half the entrance hall.  Well, 6 months later it has so annoyed us, this half finished mess, that it got us motivated to continue.

Man, I discovered muscles I forgot I had!  We spent the better part of 2 days painting and have one more room ( if I ignore my children's bedrooms), the study, and .... you guessed it, half the entrance hall to go!

I so enjoy walking into my living areas now.  Its fresh!  Its unmarked! And an added bonus, I can stretch and bend a little more too, lol!

So what is the point I'm making?
Like me, my progressively painted home is not as it was, but it most certainly has improved!  It is not where it should be, but its getting there.  So, like me, its a work in progress!

That half painted entrance hall irritates me just as my need for spiritual growth works on me, pointing me to do something about it!  They show me where work still needs to be done.  Its a day by day walk with lots of God's grace, lots of His mercy! And more than a few touch-ups here and there.
2 Corinth 3 v 18:  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

My encouragement to you is to know that daily God is working change in you and as you choose to walk with Him at your side you grow from glory to glory.

God bless
Tracy
