Winsome Wednesday - You got questions? God's got answers!

Recently I have been listening to someone preach a doctrine that makes me uncomfortable.  (First clue things are not all good!)  I am not so biblically sharp that I have the "Word" at my fingertips to refute what I am being told.  (Hmmm, need to dig deeper here).  But I am curious, I want to know why I am uncomfortable, I want God's answer on this.  Am I off base?  Is this a good word?  I WANT TO KNOW!!!!!  I want to believe what is God's word on this!

So I start asking questions.  I ask those whose judgement I trust!  I ask those who I respect!  And still I do not have the answer that gives me conviction either way.  I just know I am not comfortable!

So I pray!  Lord, show me Your answer!  Show me Your word!  Bring someone across my path who can guide me to YOUR WORD on this issue!

This week we are having stuff sorted out on our home.  And the guy who leads this team, I start a conversation with him about this topic!  And he is firm, he is direct, he is sure and confident!  AND...he backs what he says with scripture!  And my conscience leaps with excitement inside!  Yes, that feels right!  Yes, God's word is attached and true!  And furthermore, today in reading some of my favourite bloggers' blogs, the general trend favours this outcome!

And I have it!  I have this conviction of what the truth is in this regard!  And I have peace about it.  And so now I need to build into this new understanding and make changes accordingly.

What have I learnt?  If you have questions....God has answers!

The thing is to go to God and His word for those answers because the world, and everyone in it, has an opinion!  But God and His word remains the same, yesterday, today and forever!  And if people add or subtract from His word, absolutely do not take their "opinion" into account.

Hebrews 4 v 12:  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God bless
Tracy

  1. Love, love your enthusiasm here Tracy! :) I agree; science has tried, religion has searched, yet nothing comes close to the secrets of God's presence. True life, peace, and prosperity are found only in Him; the answer which the world needs today can only be obtained when men seek Him in all truth. Always and forever, Jesus remains the answer!

    Blessings and love my friend!

    1. HI Denise, I love that moment when the penny drops, when convictions comes and then nothing and no-one can change your heart or mind. Love when the Word does that

  3. Dear Tracy
Always remember, dear friend, that in the time Paul wrote those words to the Hebrews, there were not Bibles like today! That Word he talked about is the Living Word, our Lord Jesus, living in you. He divides between soul and spirit. It was Him making your feel uncomfortable! And He sent the gentleman across your way!!

  4. Those uncomfortable moments are so valuable, yes? I don't like them and usually don't welcome them, but they are often the greatest teachers because they make me keep searching my way out. Thankful for people who can guide us to Truth in those moments.

  6. Hi Tracey! Amen...we should do as the Bereans did in the Bible. They received the Word with eagerness, but went home and studied the scriptures for themselves. So true, if someone is adding or taking away from God's Word...their counsel is not needed. ;-) Thanks for the party and thanks for linking up today! Have a blessed week my friend!

    1. Hi Michell, exactly. The trick is knowing who is telling the truth. Fortunately we have the word to measure what is being said

  7. Great Post! When we struggle to find the answer we should pray, because every time God will have the answer. He will help us to figure out our own question, but it is through him.

Christ came and shared the one and true Truth, which we are all called to learn and live by! And we certainly do this by asking Questions!

  9. Hi Tracy,
I love when God reinforces what He's telling me in numerous ways...through Scripture and other people He crosses on my path. God always has the answers we need...sometimes we just have to wait for when He's ready to share.
