Absorb and Absorb!

This past week I have not spent too much time in God's word and I know that the less time I spend in His word, the more frustrated I get, the more people irritate me, the more things annoy me.  Having said that, when I have dipped into His Word I have found gems.

Here they are:

Psalm 84 v 10:  For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.

This scripture tells me that even if sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side, and sometimes it looks as though the unrighteous prosper, to be with the Lord, walking His way, even though sometimes it looks hard and unfair to us, it is the only place to be in.... His hands, His will!

Isaiah 46 v 4:  Even to your old age I am He, and even to to hair white with age will I carry you.  I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you.

This scripture tells me that He never changes, He remains the same, no matter where I am in my life, He will carry me and support me and be there for me.

Such great and encouraging scriptures.  I feel the need to absorb them into my being.  I hope they are an encouragement to you too.

God bless
Tracy

  1. Tracy, thanks so much for sharing honestly about your week.

We all have ups and downs and life goes astray. You have shared really well though the cost this has on our life and why it is so important that we reign things back in and get back in touch with what is necessary.

Thanks for a great post. Linked here from An Alabaster Jar.

    1. Hi Mel, I know right? Knowing that things start to slide you would think we would stick firmly with being in the word constantly. Sigh, well the thing is to never give up and keep going to His word regardless

  2. I too find that the less time I spend soaking in the Word, the less impatient and irritable I become. Thanks for sharing those encouraging scriptures today. Have a great day.

  4. When the Word of God seeps deep into the soil of our souls, we are blessed with refreshing rain, warming SONshine, and the ability to bear fruit.

    Without it, we wither.

Thanks for some very encouraging words today!

  5. Hi Tracy! Oh yes, the Scriptures definitely lift me up. I love your honestly about how irritated you can get at life, because I am there too at times. Better to not compare, it just makes things worse, and who knows? Green doesn't always mean healthy!

Nice to see you again, my friend!

  9. I am so grateful to have read this post this morning. Yesterday was a very disappointing day in the lives of several I love deeply. These words were exactly what I needed to read...."This scripture tells me that even if sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side, and sometimes it looks as though the unrighteous prosper, to be with the Lord, walking His way, even though sometimes it looks hard and unfair to us, it is the only place to be in.... His hands, His will!"
Thank you! Have a great Tues.!

  11. Reading God's Word does bring us special verses of comfort and direction. I read usually two chapters a day, but there are online devotionals I also read where the special verses hit home. It is amazing how a scripture can come from almost nowhere and be just what we need. Thank you for sharing here at "Tell Me a Story."

  12. Great encouragement. I've said before that spending time with God and in His Word is like an athlete warming up before a game. It is a must and you can tell when they don't!
