Winsome Wednesday - Seek Him first!

I am a practical person and I tend to try sort problems out by myself.  But you know, there are some problems that you just cannot solve and truly, maybe God does not want us to solve them.  He wants us to trust Him to solve the problem.

The sad truth is that in my life I tend to try and try until I have no more options, until there is nothing more I can do AND THEN I let go and let God!  Sigh!

I am learning however, to stop, think things through, and try to release things to the Lord.  And you know, when I do, things do work out!  And if they don't work out right then and there (which, lets be honest hardly ever happens) my attitude in the problem starts to change and the problem does not seem so overwhelming any more.  Sometimes, the problem recedes so much that over time, I look back and see how it got resolved without my interference!!!!

So, my encouragement to you is to practice letting go, and let God!  He has the bigger picture, He knows why you are going though what you are going through and He will work it out for your good if you lean on Him and trust in Him to do so (Rom 8 v 28).

How do you do that?  How do you let go?
  • When the problem comes to mind, start praising the Lord
  • When the problem comes to mind remind yourself that your God is way bigger than any problem
  • Remind yourself of what God has already done for you
  • Play your praise music at full volume and sing, because you cannot talk/sing and think at the same time (if you are focusing on what you are saying/singing)
Can you think of any other ways to let go?  Please share with us in the comments, we all could use good Godly advice!

Matt 6 v 33:  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God bless
Tracy

  1. What really helps me is, every time I think about the problem, I start THANKING Him (out loud) that it is done! and that I do NOT have to worry about it.

  2. Dear Tracy
What I do when my problems seems to overwhelm me is to seek the Kingdom of God inside me where Jesus lives (Luke 17:21) and the talk to Him about this. He is so faithful to always listen and help sorting it out. At times He tells me to just leave it with Him and I do.

  3. These are all good suggestions!! I do these too and I go to the Word! I love to pray the Psalms! Praying the Word out loud brings POWER down from on high and all of my problems seem to disappear. Also I will just say to the Lord, "Here is my problem, it is too big for me to handle, I give it to you Lord." Whew! Load off of my shoulders! "Casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you!" ♥

  4. These are all great ways to deal with a problem that keeps coming to mind, Tracy. Like you, I try to hard to sort things out myself. In fact my Bible Love Note today is about the time I sometimes waste trying to do this!
Counting my blessings always helps me.

  5. Thanks for those practical reminders on HOW to do this. We usually know it's the right thing to do to seek him first, but we don't always know how to do that.

  6. One of the most helpful things I do is turn to the Word. Sometimes I just open the Bible randomly and read the two pages that I've landed on. It continues to amaze me how God always finds a way to speak *just the right word* from His Word! That reassuring and re-settling touch with Scripture always seems to still me, and enables me to let go just a little bit better!

    GOD BLESS!

  7. Tracy - Always a blessing to stop by! Yes, praise...such a powerful weapon of warfare! Lifting Him high so that we are reminded just how small we really are apart from Him! Thanks for these great strategies Tracy to get through difficult times! Have a blessed week, my friend! ~ Jen

  8. But seek FIRST the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you...I keep reminding myself of this verse. And that God is a good daddy who wants to help His children because He loves us. We are NOT in this alone...Blessings to you. Thanks for the link up.

  10. Hi Tracey! When I want to let go, I go for a walk. It lifts my head away from my problems, and helps me focus on nature. Nature doesn't talk back! LOL!

Good to see you again :)
