Winsome Wednesday - Perspective on Tough Stuff

What is your perspective on the tough stuff?  I suppose the answer to that is "It depends where we are in a tough situation.  Just starting out?  In the middle of a storm?  Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel?"

Well I can tell you from my own experience that the tough stuff is not for fun, that is for sure.  Neither is it for no reason, although we mere mortals, this side of heaven, will not necessarily understand why.  One thing I am sure of is that God does not let us go through things to hurt us for His pleasure or because He is bored.  He does it because He wants to save us.

From what you ask?
  • Well, sometimes from ourselves, right?  He knows what lies ahead on the road we travel and He is preparing us so we can cope, survive,
  • To help others who are going through things we have been through,
  • make it to everlasting life with Him,
  • To keep our eyes on Him and not on the world and its solutions.
Honestly, only He knows why He allows the tough stuff in our lives.  Although, there are times I look back and see that without a tough time in my life I may have gone a different, maybe seriously bad, path and He was diverting me back to His way.  God would rather hurt you, to modify your path, than lose you.  Does that make sense?

One thing I have learnt is that I would rather go through the tough stuff WITH Him than WITHOUT Him.

My encouragement to you in the storm is don't give up, God is walking this path with you and He knows you hurt, but He has allowed it because He loves you and knows you better than you know yourself.
1 Corinth 5 v 5:  You are to deliver this man over to satan for physical discipline, that his spirit may yet be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.  All I can say to this scripture is... "Ouch!"  But in terms of eternity, all one can say is "Amen!"  Thus, God is rough with the flesh to save the soul!

God bless
Tracy

  3. Save me from what? That is something I do ask myself too. Like you said, we may never know (at least this side of heaven). But trusting that HE knows is helpful to endure it. Thanks for the encouragement today. Just what I needed.

  4. You are so right, Tracy. God knows exactly what He is doing when He allows trouble in our lives. And He does it for a purpose. To bring us closer. Acts 17:26-27 I have come to believe that God is much less interested in our happiness and much more in our holiness, our devotion to and lingering in, Him. How else could we give continual thanks?

  5. Well said, Tracy. When I find myself in the middle of tough times, I always think of Job. He never knew the *backstory* behind his suffering and struggles. But he endured, and God gave him new perspective on everything. God became bigger and more personal at the same time.

That's what heavenly perspective is all about - looking at life standing with the Lord. We might not be able to "see" with His eyes, but we can trust that ALL things will work out together for good. In the meantime, we have the privilege of getting to know Him better.

    GOD BLESS!

  8. Even in the storm, we are more than Conquerors and victory is already ours. So, even when it doesn't feel like it, we can walk knowing the war is won! Gets me all excited. :)

  9. "God would rather hurt you, to modify your path, than lose you" - I understand that even more because I am a mom - and I don't want to lose a single one:) The tough stuff - I have needed it to understand how I need Him:)

    However - I wish I were so together I didn't need the tough stuff:) But I do. . .

Blessings friend - so glad He gives us each other in the tough stuff times!

  10. Hi Tracy, I think that one of the most wonderful blessings we shall have when we see Him in glory will be Him showing us how He really did work all things together for our good, even the trials! Thanks for hosting & God bless.

  11. God has saved me time and time again. Sometimes the lessons that He has taught me have been painful, but so important for my all over health - spiritual, emotional and even physical! I welcome His hand on my life because I trust Him. I know that even His discipline is because He loves me! :-)

    Blessings, Joan
