Winsome Wednesday - Joy!

I found this picture on Pinterest and when I saw it I just loved it!  Apart from the fact that it kind of catches your attention, the truth of the words just get me in my chest!

Yes, we can choose JOY today!  No matter what we are going through, no matter what anxiety surrounds us, no matter the circumstance, the Word says we can experience God's joy in the midst of it.

BUT.... it is not a "feeling" nor an "emotion".  It is an act of our wills to accept God's joy in our lives by leaving all our worries at His feet.  I sometimes wonder how does one do that?  It seems impossible.  The only way I can explain it, is, its that point you get to when you know nothing else can be done, there is nothing more you can add or subtract to change something, and you release it and give it to God.  You find yourself in peace.  This is the place I want to get to, long before there are no more steps to be taken.  And that place is a choice.  I pray today that you experience the Lord's joy in your life today.  He loves you passionately!

Romans 15 v 13:  Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God bless
Tracy

  1. I can't think of a more perfect post for you to write; you are the definition of joy Tracy!

I know for me; if I make a conscious decision to give thanks and be joyful in all circumstances (good or bad) I begin to see the simple things with a new perspective. When my heart is alive with joy in everyday things; I can be happy for no reason at all! :)

    Blessings and love sweet sister!

  2. Dear Tracy
I have found in my life that as I learned to draw myself deep into the life of our Lord Jesus, I began to experience His joy and peace so much more! Thanks for your place to link-up today.

  3. Henri Nouwen said, "We must choose joy and keep choosing it every day." I love the picture. Last year on this day my sister and I spoke for a convention on Choosing Joy. It's a necessity in our walk with Jesus.

  4. I love that picture, too. Yes to the words but the picture is very pleasing to my eyes! ;) Today I will choose joy. Maybe even print out the pic for my journal. I like Pamela's quote by Nouwen above, as well!

  6. Were they selling those - 'cause I want one for my home and work!!!! This has been a season with my graduating senior where my message has been "Choose Joy" - and you are so right - it is a choice:) Choosing Joy today! I think it would be great to do a Choose Joy Challenge - where we can chronicle how our day changed when we chose joy!!!

  7. When my daughter was in second grade, she wrote a little book for a school project entitled "Choosing Your Feelings". She started it off with the line "You can choose to be happy if you chose to"! I must admit there were times she wished she hadn't written the little book when we reminded her of what she wrote!

  11. Thank you for this. I think it coincides with "love is a decision." So many people give up on their marriages because they do not FEEL love any longer. The same is true for joy. What a great wife I can be if I choose joy. My post is about doubt. Again this is a choice. I choose to believe!

  16. "It is an act of our wills to accept God's joy in our lives"

I love how you put that! I don't think I have ever looked at being joyful as an act of obedience.. Awesome!!

  17. Amen -- it is not about feelings, but about obedience. And yet, we have so much to be joyful about! Thanks for hosting & God bless!
