My Scripture for 2013

I know its already February but I wanted to update my Scripture for the year.  And it seems that God is testing my ability to trust.  Thus my word for 2013 is "TRUST".  So in line with that my scripture is also about trust!

Here it is:
Numbers 23 v 19:  God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind.  Does He speak and not act?  Does He promise and not fulfill?

Scary stuff trusting God for the big things right?!  But God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and He will do as He has said He will do.  Because I don't get what I want or what I anticipate, does not make God a liar.  No, it just makes me impatient, untrusting, a plain old scaredy cat!  The problem folks, lies with me!!!!

So, today I declare, "Lord, I trust you, no matter what the circumstances look like!"

Do you have a scripture for the year?  What is it and why does it mean so much to you?  I look forward to hearing from you.

God bless
Tracy

  1. Philippians 4:11-12 perfectly describes my one word, and as I apply YOUR word "trust" into it, I am learning to be "content" in all things!

Blessings for a joyful week dear friend...

  2. Yes, it is scary to trust God for the *big stuff* in life - (honestly, I seem to have trouble with the "little" stuff, too!) I enjoyed your Scripture choice, Tracy. Not one of those verses I would immediately think of when I think of the word - Trust. But, it is perfect! We can trust God because He is NOT like us. He is unchanging, always perfectly loving and good, and eminently trustworthy in ALL things.

I had so many verses for my 2013 word, DIRECTION, that I just put all of them on my sidebar!!

    GOD BLESS!

  3. Since hearing yesterday's message on Acts 27 I've been contemplating how much trust or faith it takes to cast away our personal lifeboats and trust in the word God has given us.

  5. Again, His scripture breathes life to those faith floundering places inside of me. Thankful today for our God who does fulfill His promises. Clinging to this truth, my friend. Holding it close to my heart! Always glad to have you UNITING, Jen

  6. OH - that is a good word - trust - a liberating word, too - when the trust is in God:) I don't have a scripture but God gives me a theme - and not always on New Years - my word/theme for this year is Shalom - holistic, wholeness resulting in peace in the midst of cyclonic challenges:) - And I gotta have your word to have it! Shalom, Tracy!

  7. Sometimes, we want things done our way so much that we become selfish instead of trusting HIM!

  8. Hi Tracy,

I'm stopping by from Doing You Well. Thank you for sharing your Scripture and I love your declaration of trust!!!

I don't know that it's necessarily my verse for the year, but since early January I have heard the Father speaking HOPE over me and over so many situations in my country and the world. The Scripture I keep coming back to is Romans 15:7-13 (MSG)...

So reach out and welcome one another to God’s glory. Jesus did it; now you do it! Jesus, staying true to God’s purposes, reached out in a special way to the Jewish insiders so that the old ancestral promises would come true for them. As a result, the non-Jewish outsiders have been able to experience mercy and to show appreciation to God. Just think of all the Scriptures that will come true in what we do! For instance:Then I’ll join outsiders in a hymn-sing; I’ll sing to your name! And this one:Outsiders and insiders, rejoice together! And again:People of all nations, celebrate God! All colors and races, give hearty praise! And Isaiah’s word:There’s the root of our ancestor Jesse, breaking through the earth and growing tree tall, Tall enough for everyone everywhere to see and take HOPE! Oh! May the God of green HOPE fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with HOPE!

    Be blessed,
    Scarlett

  9. Hi Tracy! In this season of our family's lives, I must say our God has shown Himself mighty on our behalf! We are just overwhelmed by His goodness...especially after a season of attacks by the enemy. He has brought us through and we're so grateful! To God be the glory for the great things He has done. In this season my scripture has been...Psalms 118:23 "This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes"!!!! Thanks for dropping by and linking up...have a blessed week! ;-)

  10. Trusting God is allowing Him to work things together according to His will. Thank you for sharing at Tell Me a Story.

Yesterday I read Proverbs 1 and this verse stood out: Pro 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence; It takes away the life of its possessors.

If we are stolen from or betrayed, the one who takes from us will suffer even a shortening of their live. That should not cause us to rejoice, but it is a somber thought.

  11. No specific verses. However, the focuses: Rejoicing; He's my Rock; Victory through HIM. So, whatever the verses are make me filled with joy.

Thanks for the sharing and thinking and prodding our focusing.
