Constant Onslaught?

The other day I was just overwhelmed!  I had had enough!!!  I mean really.... what next?  With this whole family saga going on, some dude arrives at my gate with a long overdue speed fine we never received because it was mailed incorrectly and I totally freaked out over-reacted!

Then, Friday night, I'm lying awake in bed, thanking the Lord that the day ended better than it started and my phone starts beeping.  I'm thinking (at 11.17pm at night) it must be important.  Before I get my hands on the phone it beeps again, by the time I have phoned my credit card company and cancelled my card urgently, 13 purchases have been made off my card IN BRAZIL!!!!  In 10 minutes!!!!  I'm in South Africa!  Soooo not amused!

But I handle this event a little better because since the speed fine incident I have heard a pastor say that sometimes Christians face an onslaught of persecution!  One thing happens, then the next and the next and the next and .....  And the pastor says the reason for this is the devil is trying to divert your attention from God's promises.  The devil is trying to get you so upset and so worked up and he tries to get your focus off the Lord and His word.

This man said something along these lines, "Stand firm, God is not finished with you, He is giving you favour, blessings abundant.  Stay focused on the promises in His word.  And remember too that God will save you from ALL you are going through."

The promise:  Ps 34 v 19:  Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
and:
Ex 3 v7-8: (paraphrased):  And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people... for I know their sorrows and sufferings and trials. (8) And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand and power of the Egyptians, and bring them to a land of milk and honey.

  1. God sees and knows
  2. He comes to deliver us out of ALL our afflictions
  3. He brings His people into favour!

Constant onslaught?  Worry not!  God will save you out of them ALL!  Just stay focused on God's promises for you in your life!

God bless
Tracy

  1. Wow! What a good word Tracy. Isn't is amazing how our GOD works? He is so awesome. I believe that many people are blessed and brought closer to the Lord when they hear, or read, of everything that goes on in the life's of other Christians.

Be blessed today my friend and keep your faith up!

    Love ya

  4. Oh my, you will never know how much I needed to hear this! There have been times, and lately, where one-thing-after-another happens. And I do believe that this can be our enemy doing his best to re-focus our hearts on anything but the Lord.

    We must not be de-railed!!

    GOD BLESS!

(p.s. I'm hoping that you didn't have to argue about paying for those fraudulent charges!)

  5. Love this... devil is trying to divert your attention from God's promises.

And yes standing on His Word - every second - helps you to be ready to fight the battle when it comes. Get your shield ready.

    Blessings,

  7. Isn't it amazing and good, and such a sign of His love and involvement, how God provides just the right message at just the time we most desperately need it? Thanks for sharing this.

  8. This present-day world can be so stressful b/c of credit card thefts, mail problems, and on and on. We truly can only count on our Lord to help us to walk through things and to protect us. Not having a "heart attack" from the stress is a "good thing" b/c we rely on Him.

    Thanks.

  9. Bad things usually happen to me in sets of three at a time. So be prepared and hold on to Grace, for it is easy to loose it when we are shocked and surprised by the unexpected. Thank you for sharing what your pastor said as an encouraging word. That upward path might look rickity, but upward we must go.
Thanks for sharing at "Tell Me a Story."

  10. I feel like I'm target practice right now - trying to keep focused on how God sees it, not how I feel living it right now. Wanting a refreshing time, not a battle:(

  11. The Word comes when we need it most. Thanks for sharing it. God says He will never give us more than we can handle but sometimes I feel like I'm getting really close. He always sits my feet back on solid ground, I just have to take my eyes off the problems and keep them on Him. Easier said than done sometimes but ALWAYS possible.

I'm here from Michelle's linky party and also now your newest follower. Hope you will visit my blog and follow back if you like.

  12. Oooh, this is a good one Tracey! God's Word is so reassuring isn't it?! Isaiah 65:24..."and it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear". He does see and know it all and is waiting for our faith to be activated so He can show Himself mighty on our behalf! Thanks so much for the reminder my friend and thanks for linking up today! ;-)

  13. Tracy, know the feeling. I just experienced the trow in the towel kind of frustration. Thank God it didn't last all day like yours did. I was reminded through the word of God that I'll reap a harvest of blessings if I don't give up. Loving your blog and definitely following, Blessings,
    Hope

  14. Thanks so much for sharing. Psalms 34:19 is so comforting and reassuring! When it rains, it pours but God will deliver us out of all of it. I have been learning to trust His timing and let go of worries and anxiety.

  19. God's word is perfect and gives breath and life in seasons like this. Human relationships can be the greatest tool of the enemy. May not one word formed against you prosper in the days to come. Greater is He that is within you than He that is in the world. Thank you for sharing these things!
