I have a Hope,thus - I will Wait!

Ps 27 v 13-14:  I would have lost heart, unless I believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  (14) Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart;  Wait, I say, on the Lord!

I felt, when I read these verses that God was saying "If you have a hope, then you will be prepared to wait."

David knew God had a plan for his future and he knew that he did not need to "make it happen" even though he had an opportunity or three to influence the outcome.

Even though it most certainly didn't look like there was any plan at times that was coming to fruition.  In fact, it looked like the only plan in action was the destruction of anything God had planned.

But you know what?  That is a sign that God's plan is good, its there, and it will happen - because the devil is doing everything in his power to destroy it!

So, do I have a hope?
Yes, my hope is in the Lord.

Is my hope justified?
Yes, God's word is His word and like Him, it is the same yesterday, today and forever.

So, if I have a hope in Christ, and if His word is true, I WILL WAIT!

My encouragement to you is to stand firm in your waiting!  He will strengthen you!  Your hope and faith are well placed and you shall not be put to shame.  (Ps 25v3(a):  Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed)

God bless
Tracy

Winsome Wednesday - A visiting Mountain!

This week a mountain is being thrust in our path.  Its a big ugly mountain of jealousy and hatred.  BUT, in faith, I pray this mountain be moved in JESUS name.

How can I trust for this mountain to move?
Ps 20 v 7:  Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

I am trusting God to remove this mountain out of our path, out of our lives and I know that my faith is well placed.  I won't trust in worldly solutions, they never satisfy.  Only GOD....

What are your mountains today?  Trust God to move them!

Now, having said that I got a picture in my head of someone moving a home from point A to point B.  At point A, the home is being raised off its foundations, slowly moved to the moving trucks, carefully manoeuvred, and slowly the move begins.  At point B, there is an empty plot, a prepared piece of ground, but... nothing going on.  People look and see, there is nothing.  They do not know that at point A everything is happening, everything is in action.  Its only much later, at point B where suddenly, a home arrives, activity begins in earnest.

The point to that little picture is this:  It may not look like your mountain is being moved, it may not look like God is doing anything.  All the evidence suggests - nothing is going on!  But.... fear not!  God is active and moving on your behalf and soon, you will see the result of that.  Activity, activity.  Your mountain, my mountain, will be moved.  Your faith is secure if your faith is in Christ.

God bless
Tracy

The Standard for Love!

Are you feeling resentful?  Are you carrying a grudge or two?  Relationships require a lot of work and if we allow these feelings to dictate, it is us and our relationships that suffer negatively.  I felt God lead me to these well known and well loved scriptures as a reminder of how to go about loving, the way Jesus does.

1 Corinth 13 v 4 - 8(a):  (The Amplified)
  • (4) Love endures long
  • and is patient
  • and kind:
  • Love never is envious
  • nor boils over with jealousy,
  • is not boastful
  • or vainglorious,
  • does not display itself haughtily.
  • (5) It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride);
  • it is not rude (unmannerly)
  • and does not act unbecomingly.
  • Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights
  • or its own way,
  • for it is not self-seeking;
  • it is not touchy
  • or fretful
  • or resentful;
  • it takes no account of the evil done to it (it pays no attention to a suffered wrong)
  • (6) It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness,
  • but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
  • (7) Love bears up under anything and everything that comes,
  • is ever ready to believe the best of every person,
  • its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances,
  • and it endures everything (without weakening)
  • (8a) Love never fails (never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end)!

What a standard to attain to, and how does one achieve this standard?
We don't, not on our own!  The answer is:  Only God's love in us achieves this standard.  We cannot do it without Him.

My encouragement to you is don't wait for someone to dish this kind of love out to you (Jesus already did).  Start today, to dish it out to others.

God bless
Tracy

A Well Timed Reminder!

In chatting on Facebook with some bloggy friends, Dawn from Beneath the Surface, reminded me of this awesome scripture:

Jer 17 v 7-8:  But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.  (8)  They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water.  Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.  Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.

I read this and just exhale.  God is so good.  He shows us here that there will be drought, there will be tough times, but we, whose roots are sunk deep into Him, will stand.  We will still produce fruit, and we have no need to worry.

I hope for you that this is a great reminder for you too.

God bless precious bloggy friends

Winsome Wednesday - Results of Obedience!

In a past post (Has God given you a word?) I spoke of how we made a decision to sell a home we had years ago based on a scripture we felt God had given us:  Prov 15v16:  Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.

Let me share with you some of the results of being obedient in that situation:

  • We moved down the road and financially things were much better
  • Because we felt we had been obedient to Christ, we grew spiritually and sought more to live in obedience
  • More profound, the people who bought our home ultimately gave their lives to the Lord
When we heard that we knew our house had been built with a purpose in mind, their salvation.  What an amazing thing to be part of.  I believe the bible in the foundation played a part too, just saying... :)

Rom 8v28:  And we know all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

My encouragement to you is even though you can't see a purpose in what you believe God is leading you in, KNOW the He has a purpose in it!

God bless
Tracy

Living, Breathing - the Word!

A few weeks ago was tough!  Everything seemed to go wrong, go wrong, go wrong.....

I got all "I've so had enough of this!" and I got stubborn, dug my feet in, tried to fix things my way!  And I did what I usually do when unhappy, I retreat and have a pity party! Woe is me!

THEN..... I did what I was supposed to do in the first place - reach for the Word, reach for Jesus!

AND.... I start to breathe again!  I felt I could exhale!  Reading the word is like filling in all the little cracks that start to appear, with the Holy Spirit.  A tensile strength starts to develop in your spiritual make-up.  Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise, the Word is ALIVE!  It gives light to the eyes and life to your marrow.  It is ALIVE!

Heb 4 v 12:  For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of the soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I may not have opened the Word and seen the answer to my problem, but in reading the Word, healing to my soul and spirit starts to take place and my attitude starts to change and I see things differently, thus I start to cope better and stress less and then my heart starts to become good soil for God's Word.

My encouragement to you is read the Word.  Its the best medicine in the world!

God bless
Tracy

Winsome Wednesday - Sin less?

We sin every day!  Whether intentionally or unintentionally, that is why I believe God says in His word that His mercies are new every day.
Lam 3 v 23:  They (His mercies) are new every morning;  Great is His faithfulness.

His mercies - new every morning!

However, God always gives us scripture to guide and exhort us, to bring conviction to correct wrongs and to encourage us.  Thus when I read the following scripture I believe God is saying: "If you want to sin less, then spend more genuine time in My word!"
Ps 119 v 11:  Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

I felt conviction!  Breezing through a quiet time is not going to get the word stuck in my heart, hidden for when its needed!  I decided, for me, to rather read less and absorb more of it - get it into my heart.

My encouragement to you - sink the word deep into your heart and when you need it, it'll be there to protect, encourage, defend, exhort, and convict you!

God bless
Tracy

Has God given you a word?

One time when things were going really well, we bought a plot and built our (then) dream home on it.  We had never had such a nice home before.  We chose every colour, tile, fitting, design and put our hearts completely into it.  We even put a bible in the foundation at the front door.  My husband oversaw every aspect of the build, laying every floorboard and much more himself to the point that he got double bronchial pneumonia by the end of it.  I made the blinds, we painted the rooms, we planted the grass ourselves.  We were physically and emotionally 150% invested in that home.

The house my man built!

And then.... things started getting tough!  Then you start to doubt your emotional investment.  One day we wanted to stick it out, the next day we wanted to sell.  I loved that home passionately but felt undeserving of such a great home.  We were very double-minded and that is not how God wants us to be.

So, I eventually started being more focused in my prayers.  You know, instead of 'help us God' it was more, "God, what is it YOU want?"  I suppose I avoided 'speaking to God' about it fearful He would tell me what I did not want to hear.  And.... He did!  But when God speaks to you and you know its Him it frees you up to make the right decisions and choices!

This is the scripture God gave us which freed us emotionally and physically from this beautiful home:
Prov 15 v 16:  Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.

Is this not the truth between man and God?
My encouragement to you is to ask God for His guidance and when He does answer you, commit to it, don't doubt, and reap the benefits: joy, inner peace, freedom from frustration and double-mindedness!  However, until you hear from Him, walk!  Move!  He can only guide you as you move!

God bless
Tracy

Winsome Wednesday - Reboot your Brain!

  • Feel like your mind is slow to capture those nasty thoughts?
  • Feel like there's one mental virus or bug  too many floating around your mind tempting you to think and act negatively?
  • Feel impatient because your thoughts are not being influenced by the truth you know is in God's word?

  • Time to reboot - Rom 12 v 2:   And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God
  • Time to debug
  • Time to refresh and renew
  • Time to do an internal mental thought scan for bugs - Ps 139 v 23-24:  Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me and know my anxieties;  (24) And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

The word ALWAYS brings cleansing, healing, renewal, peace!  The word is true and tested!

My encouragement to you if you're feeling bogged down in your thought life is to reboot it with God's word.
Phil 4 v 8:  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.

God bless

Are you going around the same tree again and again?

Over the years when things have gotten tough we have sold up, settled our debts and moved on.  We have moved a lot and one of the reasons for that is we do the same things and make the same mistakes over and over again!

Well, this last time has been different.  Things got tough and our usual M.O. is to sell up, sort out and move on promising God we will change.  But God had other plans:  He prevented our home from being sold, none or our usual 'plans' worked.  God allowed them all to be blocked.

Nothing in our own strength worked!
Then one night I watched a program on TV about a woman who had been spied on in her own home via video by a neighbour, who was an elder in their church, a family man, and a family friend.  To cut a long story short he was caught out, but there was no 'law' against it as they had allowed him access to the home, as a friend!  The church encouraged her to 'let it go and move on'.  Her life was totally turned upside-down.  She showered in her clothes, she changed in her cupboard.  Her life had been devastated!

Then.... she decided that enough was enough!  She went to work getting a law passed which ultimately happened.  They changed churches!  But... they still live where they always lived, they still worked where they always worked.  They pushed through a very tough time and got through it.  Their neighbour and his family eventually left town!

They stayed - and won
The enemy - left

My encouragement to you is to stand firm.  Push through.  Trust God in the tough times and don't run!  Yes, there will be times when its God's will for you to move but for us to do so was to repeat the same pattern and not have the satisfying victory in Christ for pushing through.  I can say that for us, having done things God's way, despite our every attempt to do it our way, has brought much peace, much joy and much satisfaction.  We are staying - and winning!  And the glory?  Its all God's!

Jer 42 v 10:  If you will still abide in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up.   For I am relenting concerning the disaster that I have brought upon you.
That is how God works - do things His way, you benefit, just remember to give Him all the glory!

God bless
Tracy
