Winsome Wednesday - My Holiday Goal - what is yours?

Holidays are a time to unwind and spend time with family and especially at Christmas time to acknowledge our Christ and His birth.  But we all know how stressful holidays can be with children out of school and visiting family and friends and the malls and shopping centres being over-crowded and and and....

I was reminded by someone recently that it is especially important to spend time with the Lord now.  We forget in all our celebrating and sharing.  So this is my goal for this holiday season....

1 Thes 16-22:
  • (16) Rejoice always,
  • (17) pray without ceasing,
  • (18) in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
  • (19) Do not quench the Spirit.
  • (20) Do not despise prophesies.
  • (21) Test all things; hold fast what is good.
  • (22) Abstain from every form of evil.
Well, I'm going to try.   My goal is to enter the new year with more of HIM and less of me!

What is your spiritual goal these holidays?
God bless
Tracy

  1. Hhm, good question Tracy. I have no goals, really. Just be with friends and family, trying to keep peace, sharing joy!
I like your list by the way :)

  2. After years and years of stressful Christmas holidays, I have finally figured this out Tracy! :) As much as we try every year to not let stress and anxiety and "too much stuff" get to us, it is bound to happen unless we commit to worshiping Him and being truly thankful for the "reason for the season". Then our minds are focused on what really matters...His sacrifice, love, and grace to us all!! :)

Christmas blessings to you my dearest friend!! :)

  4. Tracy, I love that you are talking about the holiday goal. Mine has been to enter into the season of Advent with purpose. So often I want to feel God at church on Christmas Eve, but I have done nothing to prepare my heart. And so, my goal this year has been to prepare.

    1. Jen - I think I need to adopt your goal. Don't know why I haven't thought of it this way before. Thanks Jen and Tracy for sharing.

  5. My goal? To rejoice in our Savior's birth, to somehow make it permeate our celebrations, to spend quality time with those I love, to find a quiet moment or 2 - and to pray for those who need to feel the Father's love!

    Wishing you Christmas blessing, Tracy!

  6. Amen, the holiday season is stressful! But, if we keep our eyes fixed on the real reason for the season it makes everything else just slow down and seem less important. Wonderful scripture and encouragement Tracy... Merry Christmas:)
