Winsome Wednesday - Anguish!

Sometimes when things are really tough I wonder if this is all life has to offer?  Really?  Do I really have to deal with this?  Is there nothing better for me?  Woeful I know.  But I think we all feel this way every once in a while.

But then I remind myself that life is just a fraction of a moment in eternity.  Like a tape measure, Life is just the first increment on that tape measure.  Eternity is way longer than 'life'!

In this scripture Jesus says it well:  John 16 v 21:  "A woman, when she is in labour, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world."

and v 22:  "Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

Wow, what a great thing to look forward to.  Now, just to get through 'life' in one piece!

My encouragement to you is to remember that life is just a fraction of eternity and eternity with Christ is pain free, joy-filled, and abundant in ways we cannot even imagine.

God bless
Tracy

  14. It's good to have an eternal perspective, something to try and strive for. Because in the grand scheme, we are only here for a short time compared to heaven, I wonder how differently we would live our lives if we had this perspective all the time.
    Great thoughts!

  15. We measure ourselves by comparing ourself to someone else. That is not the way God measures us. He does not even count success as we usually do. When we think we are "small," that is the time he measures "large." When we believe we are "nothing," He measures us again and says "with me YOU are my all in all!" When we feel "big failure," he measures and say, "in my eyes, you are a "Big Success." We use a thimble to measure with and God uses a wheelbarrel.

  20. Depending on the child, the challenge - I would say child-birth was a piece of cake compared to some challenges - and those challenges sometimes require longer refreshing time for spirit-strengthening and healing! Praying for you - that your challenge finds its solution and the journey of the answered prayer ends in joy!
