Practical tip - Sing out Loud!

Sometimes I find my mind is mulling over stuff endlessly!  I'm not focusing and I'm having these mind debates which truly are going nowhere!

What I sometimes remember to do, especially in the car, is turn my praise music on - LOUD - so LOUD that I can't hear my thoughts anymore!

Then, I sing!  Off key no doubt!  Laugh worthy to anyone listening (smiles) but, its honest and God loves that and when I reach my destination and turn the car off, I have regained a little spring in my step and now God's music is in my head instead of mind-numbing unresolved problems.

Ok, maybe not SO loud?!

And you know what?  When you mentally let go of stuff, God can start working on it.  The longer you mind wrestle, the longer the wait because God gives us free will.  He will take your problems - when you give them to Him!

So, my tip for the day - sing those negative thoughts away LOUDLY!

Ex 15 v 21:  And Miriam answered them: "sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously, the horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!"

God bless
Tracy

  1. Ah, it is 3 a.m. and I can't sleep. I wonder if my husband and houseguests would mind if I blasted my cd player ... hmm ... I guess I shouldn't have given my i.pod away.

    Great advice.

    Fondly,

  2. Amen Tracy! Joy comes to me as I offer up to God- in song-the worship and praise of my heart; it helps me respond to God and fills my heart with joy and gladness!

    Lifting my hands in praise!

  4. Great post! Let us sing, yes. Haha, that photograph! Really cool, so many music boxes in the car.

  5. I so agree Tracy! At work I put in the ear buds and listen as much during the day as I can. HIS music always lifts my spirits. If I were there we could turn up the music and I would let you sing loudly!! LOL!!!

  6. Yes! Yes! Yes, I agree! Also, I find that the longer I wrestle competing thoughts in my head, the more time the enemy has to get me to believe them. So, the sooner we give them to God the better!
    Thanks Tracy,

  8. What a simple reminder to "be still". What a gift music is, hymns and praise music to keep our eyes on Him!

  10. I feel like we have/are experiencing so many of the same emotions and spiritual battles, Tracey. That's why your posts so often speak directly to my heart. I read some months ago that if your baby starts crying in the car he will stop if he can't hear himself, so turn up the music. So when I was reading this I was thinking of how my mind is sometimes like a crying baby that doesn't want anything except to be out of her car seat! : ) And turning the music up is exactly what I need.
    Thanks, Gail
