Read it out Loud!

Ps 117 v 1-2:  Praise the Lord, all you nations!  Praise Him, all you people! (2) For His mercy and loving-kindness are great toward us, and the truth and faithfulness of the Lord endure forever, Praise the Lord! (Halelujah)

Its a short psalm and it kept catching my eye so I decided to read it out loud.  And as I did that these things stood out for me...

  • Praise the Lord - yes, do it, praise Him
  • His mercy and loving-kindness are great toward us.  As I read this my jaw dropped (mentally) as I realized that because His mercy is great toward me, I am not going through nearly as much as I could be!  What I am going through is tough, very tough, but because of His mercy it is not worse and because of His mercy, I WILL make it!  And its because of His mercy that random verses come my way that are JUST the right ones and JUST the right time, God-incidences, acts of kindness, caring friends, etc.  God's mercy is overwhelming and undeserved!
  • His truth, His faithfulness endures FOREVER!  Not just while I behave or while I am getting things right. Even when I mess up, even when I fail, His faithfulness and His truth endure forever!

Small chapter, great truths
God bless

  3. Guess I needed to read this! I felt like God was calling my attention today to "the sacrifice of praise" - praising Him even when we don't feel like it! Then, like the song says, "The chains that seem to bind you drop powerless behind you, when you praise Him!"

  4. I love this, Tracy. Sometimes I think I'm going through so much. But you're right, it's not near what I could be going through if it weren't for His grace and mercy. Thank you for posting a Word just when I needed it!

  7. Tracy - I keep "running into" the word, "mercy" all over the place. At church Sunday. One another blog! Such great reminders that He is rich in mercy and abounding in His love. :)

  9. I wonder what if would be like if we literally spoke and studies the psalms as disciples of Christ in the world today. Great reminder of it's truth.

  11. You often have a word from the Lord for me, Tracy. Today as I struggle with this painful knee and skinned elbow, I was reminded that things could be so much worse. I could have broken a bone or been hit by a car when I fell into the road. His mercies were there helping me. And then I read what you've written and the Lord confirms it again. Thanks for sharing these simple yet profound truths. And thanks for linking up to B&BB. May God bless you with many tender mercies this week and help you as you deal with your difficulties. Bless you! Gail
