Exhort! Encourage!

I was dealing with a big problem.  One that affected my walk with Christ, my emotions, my mind!  And one day (not so long ago) I told the Lord, "So far and no further!  I cannot take it anymore!  If You want to fix this then You do it!  Because I give up!  I'm done!"

And.... its in the surrendering (however ungraciously) that Christ started working in my 'problem'.
  • First, I gave up and let go!
  • Secondly, God placed wonderful encouragers in my path.  People who speak into my life, help direct my focus to the positive and not the negative.
  • Thirdly, things started to change, quickly!
Now, you need to understand this is a long standing problem and suddenly, after years and years of my fixes and solutions and attempts to lay it at Christ's feet, suddenly things started to change!  Dramatically!

And then unrelated things started to straighten out and my heart and mind and soul recognised that these changes, these happenings, events, these blessings, they were permanent, unmerited, undeserved extra special!

I know it all seems a bit vague but my point is - I had to let go - REALLY let go - for God to start working in my circumstance.

I wanted to ask God, "Why now?  What's different?"  But felt God was saying, "Just say thank you, thank you, thank you!"

My encouragement to you is twofold:
  1. Let go and let God!!  and
  2. Never think that what you are going through is of no value.
Allow God to use your experiences to help others, to encourage and exhort them!  It is in doing this that one is greatly blessed and humbled to be used of God!

Acts 14 v 22:  Strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."

God bless
Tracy

  1. PTL Tracy! So many times I have to remind myself to "let go and let God" gently push and lead me out of a situation and be delivered from unneeded stress; I have to rely on Him in ALL parts of my life! Praying that you are "content" (your word for 2012!) in letting go and giving it all to Him! :)

Blessings and bunches of hugs friend,
    Denise

  2. I too have a hard time of letting go of situations in my life. I feel sure it is my "control" issues that creep up telling me I can fix it, only to make it worse. However I am grateful that God never gives up me and continues to gently guide me into letting go and giving him ALL my issues! :)

    Great post Tracy!!

    Blessings to you~

  6. Your testimony reminds me of this from Hannah Whitall Smith, which I recently re-read in her book "The Secret To a Happy Christian Life" is this simple statement. "People may not read the bible, but they will read you." Alleluia! Thank you.

  7. Although it seems odd, giving up was exactly what was needed to me done. As I read this I'm examining my own life for the areas that I'm struggling to fix that I simply need to let go.

  11. Great advice, Tracy! Isn't it strange that we try and try to do things on our own...we strive and fail. But when we finally give up and admit that we need God, things turn around? I have found that the more I recognize my need of God, the better I feel and the deeper my relationship with Him becomes. Praise God!

  15. Thank you for entering "Tell me a True Story," and sharing your awesome testimony of "Letting Go" and God taking over. Perhaps it is our hands clasped so hard and tight around our "problem" that we believe it is up to us to "Fix it." It is amazing how the heavens can open and down will ascend the angels to minister to you and repair the circumstances.

  16. Tracy, That image is so fitting, with the fading out of "go" and the emboldened image of the word "God." Thank you for sending such truth out into the world. You inspire!

  17. This is such an important lesson! It was the first one I had to learn as a new Christian. The situation I wanted to change didn't get permanently better, but I certainly did! Learning to trust God and quit trying to be god began a whole new life for me!

  18. This is so true! We have to be completely emptied before He can fill us whole. Thanks for sharing!

  19. Tracy - I don't know why I sometimes continue to hang on to things rather than "letting go and letting God." Do I think my way is better? Do I not think He is capable of handling any situation? I am in essence saying that when I don't relinquish control.

    Great post!

    Blessings,
    Joan
