Winsome Wednesday - Sin less?

We sin every day!  Whether intentionally or unintentionally, that is why I believe God says in His word that His mercies are new every day.
Lam 3 v 23:  They (His mercies) are new every morning;  Great is His faithfulness.

His mercies - new every morning!

However, God always gives us scripture to guide and exhort us, to bring conviction to correct wrongs and to encourage us.  Thus when I read the following scripture I believe God is saying: "If you want to sin less, then spend more genuine time in My word!"
Ps 119 v 11:  Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

I felt conviction!  Breezing through a quiet time is not going to get the word stuck in my heart, hidden for when its needed!  I decided, for me, to rather read less and absorb more of it - get it into my heart.

My encouragement to you - sink the word deep into your heart and when you need it, it'll be there to protect, encourage, defend, exhort, and convict you!

God bless
Tracy

  3. I especially like what you said about absorbing the Word of God. That is deeper than you may have thought at first.

  5. Tracy:

This is so true. There is much more than just reading God's word. We need to study and to absorb the truth contained within it.

    Blessings to you!

  7. Soaking up Him by soaking up His word! Hiding His word in our minds and hearts, through memorization and meditation! Yes! Such important feeding on daily Bread! Good thoughts here, Tracy.

  8. What a great post. So often, we try to simply "eat and run" when it comes to God's Word. How we need to take the time to truly digest each morsel of truth, to feed on God's Word until His truth fully satisfies and arms us for the day ahead.

    Thanks, Tracy-

  9. I am so guilty of 'breezing through the Word'. Thank you for this reminder. I never leave this site without something useful to dwell on.

  10. Oh Yes Me Too!!!

  11. Thanks for the convicting and thought-provoking post! If we had a personal audience with a president or king, we would be focused on their every word. Yet how often do we approach the King of Kings in prayer or in His Word and find our mind wandering off?
    Love in Him,
    Laurie

  12. Exactly my sentiments these past few days, Tracy. And I'm also pondering how to write about it - those subtle sins that we commit everyday and how we can really do away with them.

Thank you for having me here.

  13. Tracy, this is such great encouragement. We have a friend who has dementia and cannot remember much at all. However, as a child she memorized numerous scriptures and now, even through the dementia, she remembers the Word! All because she memorized scriptures, I love it.

  15. This is just what I needed to hear today, Tracy! Though quiet time is part of my daily practice, I was tempted to "breeze" through it earlier today. Thank you for the reminder to hide His word in my heart! Blessings!

  17. Hi Tracy,

Your words are inspiring; I agree that it is more important to let the Word sink in rather than flipping through the pages wit a wandering mind; I find myself doing that sometimes!

Blessings sweet friend; I hope all is well...we'll have to catch up soon!

  20. OH, I DO need to hide the Word in my heart. I love to linger there, but so rarely take the time to seal it word for word in my mind and soul. Thank you for the encouragement.
