Has God given you a word?

One time when things were going really well, we bought a plot and built our (then) dream home on it.  We had never had such a nice home before.  We chose every colour, tile, fitting, design and put our hearts completely into it.  We even put a bible in the foundation at the front door.  My husband oversaw every aspect of the build, laying every floorboard and much more himself to the point that he got double bronchial pneumonia by the end of it.  I made the blinds, we painted the rooms, we planted the grass ourselves.  We were physically and emotionally 150% invested in that home.

The house my man built!

And then.... things started getting tough!  Then you start to doubt your emotional investment.  One day we wanted to stick it out, the next day we wanted to sell.  I loved that home passionately but felt undeserving of such a great home.  We were very double-minded and that is not how God wants us to be.

So, I eventually started being more focused in my prayers.  You know, instead of 'help us God' it was more, "God, what is it YOU want?"  I suppose I avoided 'speaking to God' about it fearful He would tell me what I did not want to hear.  And.... He did!  But when God speaks to you and you know its Him it frees you up to make the right decisions and choices!

This is the scripture God gave us which freed us emotionally and physically from this beautiful home:
Prov 15 v 16:  Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.

Is this not the truth between man and God?
My encouragement to you is to ask God for His guidance and when He does answer you, commit to it, don't doubt, and reap the benefits: joy, inner peace, freedom from frustration and double-mindedness!  However, until you hear from Him, walk!  Move!  He can only guide you as you move!

God bless
Tracy

    1. Hi Heidi - thank you, it was 9 years ago now that we sold that property and now we live on an awesome smallholding. So, God's plans for us were far greater than our own. I did however, learn a valuable lesson.
God bless sweet friend. Hope your move is going well

  8. This really spoke to me today. It's always better to be at center of His will, no matter how hard we think our circumstances might be. Thank you for sharing!

  9. Praying specific prayers make the way so much clearer, doesn't it? I spent many times on the "Help us, God" prayers. Amazing things happen in our hearts when we ask God His will. Your home was lovely. Isn't it funny though how happy we are when we are where God wants us to be even if it's not grandeur?

  10. I'm here through SDG today and so thankful. It is so important to be on our knees when building anything, isn't it? Thanks for the reminder. I was especially impressed by your symbol of the Word as your foundation. I know that is why you were able to hear his voice, his Word is the foundation of more than just that home. God bless you!

  14. Thank you Tracy for sharing your great story at “Tell Me A True Story” Blog Party. God does give us the desires of our heart but he requires that those desires line up with his desire. We have found it necessary to let go, more than once. It is difficult, but God has and will continue to grant peace when our will is alighned with His.

By the way, if you want Captcha do nothing, but if you would like a fix, here it is:

    1. Your blog is automatically doing this because you are probably on the new "Blogger Interface." Log on to your Blogger dashboard and hit the gear button, then go down and choose "Old Blogger Interface". This may fix the problem. If not try fix #2

    2. Click on settings then on comments. Under comments moderation – check the box “always” and it will cancel your captcha.

  16. Tracy:

I'm reminded of James's words about asking then doubting. (And I am soooooo guilty of that). Scripture tells us He will show us the way. Often we get impatient and get ahead of God, but His timing is always perfect.

    Blessings,
    Joan
