If faith had eyes?

I often ask the Lord if He would open my eyes to see His angels standing in protection of me the same way Elisha's servant saw when they left the city and all the Syrian army was waiting for them:

2 Kings 6 v 15-17:  When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city.  Elisha's servant said to him, alas, my master!  What shall we do?  (16) Elisha answered, fear not; for those with us are more than those with them.  (17) Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see.  And the Lord opened the young man's eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

I think maybe I might have really been more scared after that (smiles).  But, seriously though, what faith would we need if we saw these things!  We need to walk in the knowledge that those fiery chariots and angelic horsemen are around us, His children, even though we cannot see them.

I think to a certain degree faith is a decision.  "I decide today, to walk through my day "Knowing" God's army (unseen to my natural eyes) is walking with me.

My encouragement to you is to make a decision to have faith to believe God's word!  With that decision, God's favour, His spiritual weaponry, His protection, are yours!

God bless
Tracy

  1. So have you seen them? I remember when J was small he asked to see the angel at the foot of his bed (the one I pray for every night to guard them while they sleep) and the next day he said he'd seen him and what a big one he was!

  5. Beautifully posted Tracy!

There are definitely no guarantees in this life! And that is where our journey of faith starts; we must understand and be assured that God loves us and will stand by us in the good times and the bad! :)

    Blessings and hugs,

  6. I love this. ♥
I am always trying to remind myself that I need to have faith for things that I cannot see. The hardest is trying to remind myself to have faith for things that have not happened yet.

I have the hardest time at night though, in the dark. I pray and remind myself that I have angels and God watching over me, but I am always spooked in the dark.

  7. Hi Tracy,
I like that - "to a certain degree faith is a decision." A decision to have faith no matter what the day brings, a decision to trust even when I'm struggling, and the decision to not waver in my faith & trust in God when the enemy is working on me. Good post today!
    In Christ,

  17. Tracy,

Faith is a choice, we choose to walk by faith and not by sight, we choose to have faith that He knows what is best even when our sight tells us otherwise. Great encouragement Tracy, blessings to you.

  20. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. I haven't seen them either, but I know there have been many times when they have protected me.
