Hockey Moms and Offense!

The other day I was chatting with some hockey Moms while watching hockey trials.  They were sitting in the shade as the sun was quite hot, me.... I needed me a little sunshine! So I sat alongside them in the sun.  All was well with the world.

And then... another Mom arrived!  She kind of fit herself between them and me, turned her back on me and proceeded to hold court!  I was totally excluded!  Well, its no biggie!  I can quite easily enjoy my own company, but my blood started to boil a little at the rudeness, intended or not I don't know.

So, bless my blackberry, while quietly fuming, I started catching up on facebook and twitter.  One tweet caught my eye.   It said:  "If I having nothing but God, I have everything!"  God alone satisfies.

I felt God was talking to me 'in the moment' letting me know that I need Him and only Him.

I let it go after that - ok, about an hour after that (smiles).  The point is - God is all we need and to pick up an offence, intended or not, does not bring satisfaction.  Only frustration and hurt!

and all we need is....God!

2 Corinth 1 v 3-4:  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, (4) Who comforts us in all our tribulation that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God!

Do you see that?  God wants to comfort us, but He wants us to take it a step further and comfort others as He has comforted us!

God bless
Tracy

  1. Good post Tracy. I too saw..."If I having nothing but God, I have everything!"...but it was on FB. And sad to say...I needed to see it at that time too. The good thing is...it is true1

  2. Funny thing I could hazard a guess as to the identity of said Mom...
I often feel excluded and would be lying to say that I'd be ok to just have God to talk to. Sad but true.

  3. Offense? No thanks, I won't have any!! Great post! I've just had similar chat with the Lord - certain relatives know where to find me when there's going to be showers, weddings, celebrations, but never have the time for us otherwise. Forgive them for they know not what they do comes to mind - and if they do know, then God will deal with them.

    1. Hi Karin - I know what you mean. Its hard sometimes to not take offense but when i choose not to be offended and leave the offence with them, they seem to be the ones with the issue and not me! Freeing indeed!

  7. I've been remembering this more lately. When my feelings get hurt, I tell myself that it doesn't matter what that person thinks, God thinks this (fill in). Or when I find myself comparing myself to someone else, I remind myself that God doesn't look at what I'm looking at, He looks at the heart.
    Great reminder today, thanks!

  8. Ok so my first emotional response to your story was very middle school-ish. I envisioned scooting uncomfortably close to her so she would squirm and move. THEN moving next to her again. I don't like mean people.
I'm so glad I have God in my heart. And GURRLL I'm so glad you wrote about it here. Not only did you give Him the glory but you are getting loved on by good women who love the Lord.
    Woo Hoo
So now, I will pray for that sad, empty most likey miserable woman to find Jesus.
    Bless you

  13. What a great encouragement, Tracy! Sometimes we can be hurt by being excluded...but our God will never exclude us! God is all we need -- I learned that several years ago...the hard way.

  16. Oh this post caused me to smile! The nerve of that socker mom !!
But after an hour you were able to "let it go." I can remember a couple of years ago, a lady at my church remarked about my sharing, "I have been in this church 50 years and we have NEVER done it that way before." I roughed a bit at that, but held my peace at least in front of her. but I did have a talk with the Lord and asked him to help me love her. He did and now she loves me. Amazing

  18. Hi Tracy :-) Sometimes I find those people to be insensitive and annoying oops! But your post is very enlightening, because instead of fuming mad at that person, you were able to feel God's company and eventually felt ok with what happened.

Your post made me feel comforted today, Tracy! Thank you so much! Take care and God bless! :-)

  19. "'If I having nothing but God, I have everything!' God alone satisfies. I felt God was talking to me 'in the moment" Ah, and I feel God is talking to me these same words, through this post of yours, "in this moment." Thanks so for passing this on. It's what He was already saying to me in spirit, but this just reaffirms and underlines it!
