5 Minute Friday - Awake!

Here we go - unedited, unscripted (scary stuff):

Have you ever had someone whom you haven't seen or heard from in a long time come onto your mind?  They kind of hang around the recesses of your mind on and off for a few days?  Then you hear, "so and so has been suffering" or "this one is going through a hardship and lost everything" or "she has been hurt", etc.
Who is on your mind?

Its normally at this point I slap myself on my forehead and say "Ok, God, now I know why you kept putting them on my mind, You wanted me to PRAY for them, duh!"  "Wake up already!"

Eph 6 v 18:  Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.  Stay alert (awake) and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
(brackets are my input)

I want to be AWAKE to God's call to pray and encourage others, always!  I don't want to realize after the fact that that is what God wanted me to do!  So my encouragement to you today is if someone is on your mind, pray for them.  I am learning how amazing and how powerful prayer is!  Like no circumstance is a coincidence,  neither is any thought!

God bless
Tracy

  1. I LOVE that verse! I know what you mean about being slow to realize that I've awakened for a reason! To pray. So very true! Bless you today! Aly

  2. Hi Tracy,

We should always be alert to those gentle reminders that He gives us because our words in prayer carry incredible weight, and praying for another person helps that person find God in the midst of trouble.

Great use of the word "awake"! :)

    Blessings and hugs,
    Denise

  8. Hello Tracy..lovely post! I hope that I can be awake to the Spirit's promptings myself! Not just in prayer but when He wants me to do something and I'm dragging my feet about it.

    Have a great weekend!

  10. That's a great thought. I only recently realised that God might be putting people into my mind in order that I might pray for them. But sometimes it does take a bit for me to remember to do it, so I am trying to get more into the habit. I love how Paul talks about thanking God for the Philippians every time he thinks of them, and making request for them in every prayer!

  17. Thanks for reminding me Tracy! I can't tell you how many times someone out of the blue has popped into my mind. And what do I say?!! "Oh, I need to call them, email them when I get a chance." Duh! Is right. I need to pray for them. Thank you for this eye-opening (should know better)post. God Bless.
