Winsome Wednesday - Obedience!

Trust and obey,
For there's no other way,
to be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey!

Never a truer word said, um, sung!

1 Sam 15v22:  But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice?  Obedience is far better than sacrifice.  Listening to Him is much better than offering the fat or rams."

Prov 21 v 3:  The Lord is more pleased when we do what is just and right than when we give Him sacrifice.

Do you exhaust every avenue before you trust the Lord enough to obey?  I do!  Stupid really, because when I finally take that step of faith into obedience, whatever it may be (doing something for someone, saying something to someone, giving something up, etc), it usually produces great blessing.

God is more concerned with us showing the the love of God, than pomp and ceremony.  His first 2 commandments, love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbour attest to this!

My encouragement to you is to choose to be obedient to God's call, you will never regret it!

God bless
Tracy

  1. Oh Tracy, yes I have exhausted every avenue before trusting God. Why? Why do we do that? I am working on first thing, very first thing, going to Him and fully trusting Him. Great encouragement.

  3. Hi Tracy! I have many stories about being blessed because I choose to obey! From simple things like breastfeeding to the man I would eventually marry. True enough Obedience brings an abundance of blessings! :^) patsy

  4. Oh, that I might daily surrender to His will! I trust Him, but sometimes I "forget" to let go and allow God to take over. But, when I do remember, I am always blessed!

  9. Love that song, Tracy. It will now be stuck in my head all morning! I tend to exhaust my own way before choosing His way more often than I like.

  10. Oh Traci, wonderful words of confirmation for me this morning.

  11. Sometimes I run around with a "Sky is Falling" attitude - and then I realize, I don't have to do that. One of the things I'm learning and it's hard is to be obedient, trust and HAVE PEACE in it all. The peace part challenges.

  12. "Oh, what peace we often forfeit. Oh, what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer." Love the words of this song! I want God to be my first choice, not my last resort.

    Many blessings!

  13. Yes I do exhaust all efforts before turning to God sometimes. The only thing I get out of that is stress! Great post!!

  14. Tracy,

I know better I really do, I don't know why I constantly try to work in my strength to fix something, when all I have to it take it God and lay it at His feet. I am with Kelli, all I get is hearty serving of stress.

    Blessings to you Tracy.

  15. Amen, Tracy! Obedience (and prayer) should always be our first step, not the last resort. We are so blessed to have the Holy Spirit with all His power and wisdom indwelling us, if we can only die to our sin nature and yield to Him.
Thanks for the great post and for hosting the link-up, and God bless!

  20. Tracy:

I'm sorry I am a day late linking up - as you know I was in a bit of a "slump" in writing.

Obedience has been my "word of the year" for 2011. If we would only obey first, we sure would save ourselves a lot of trouble.

    Blessings,
    Joan
