I can remember a season when my husband bought an Isuzu diesel double-cab. It sounded like a tractor and drove almost as slowly as one. What I remember from that vehicle is that because it did not go very fast, my husband tended to be more, shall we say, sedentary in driving it. I noticed a definite calming in his driving and consequently, a calming in him. It did help that the tractor like noise lulled one into a calmness too!
My point is that in realizing the car's limitations, he chose to drive it differently, more conservatively. And in that 'choosing' his demeanour was more relaxed. When I 'choose' to drive more relaxed, even though my car is more, hmm - excitable - I am more relaxed.
I believe its in the 'choosing' that our attitude can be determined. Are you 'choosing' a fast-paced, high stressed existence today? Or are you 'choosing' to smell the roses, make time for a stranger, or perhaps a child's concerns? Are you ending this day blessed because of your choices? I hope so.
Duet 30 v 19: Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
Choose LIFE today!
God bless
Tracy

ReplyDeleteI trust that you will go from strength to strength.
I choose life today and a sedentary car.
Glad, you're feeling better Tracy. Love this post... slowing down, yes!
ReplyDeleteChoosing to have a slower paced life and a good attitude are not always easy, but when we make these choices, life flows so much easier.
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited your blog in awhile, and was unaware that you were ill. I do hope that you are feeling better these days.
What a joyful blessing that you are home and recovering; missed seeing your here! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome post Tracy; a perfect fit for me. I often let my high anxiety (even though I don't choose it to!) get the best of me. It is with great determination, prayers, and faith that brings me down a notch!
Blessings and love friend,
Denise

Glad you are back and that everything went well. Yep, it's ALL in the choosing. And what I love about God is that if we make the wrong choice, we can, right this moment choose differently. Love His grace.
ReplyDeleteDesiring to make the right choices today. Glad to hear everything went well for your Tracy.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back!! :)
ReplyDeleteEach day we have many choices. I want to chose that relaxed, smell the roses path. Great encouragement.
Glad you are feeling better! Thanks for encouraging us in our choices. We really do have more say in that than we often think. As my kids got older, I made a conscious decision to savor the time with them. I'm glad I did. Have a great week! :)
ReplyDelete=))
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful your op went well. Im praying for a quick recovery! It's nice that blogging takes so little energy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reminder that we have a choice, Tracy. Today I choose blessings and life.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your surgery went well and you are recovering nicely. Great to have you back!
Moving in the right direction in a relaxed mode is a good reminder. Our attitude must be "willing and obedient" to God's ways and to His voice.
ReplyDeleteSo true that everything is a choice--even our attitude and pace in life. Thanks for sharing this, Tracy. I'm following your sweet blog. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteSo true! Choosing to slow down and "smell the roses" enables us to see, feel and taste the blessings all around us that we would have otherwise missed.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are up and about now! Blessings to you, Joan
So thankful God took such good care of you :)
ReplyDeleteThis really spoke to my heart:
"Are you ending this day blessed because of your choices?"
Welcome back-
Such a good reminder, especially in the midst of this Holiday season. =)
ReplyDeleteSo true, slowing to "make time for a child's concerns" I'll try to do this today. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was great! I've always told my boys that they can choose their attitudes, not to let the circumstances choose it for them. I want to smell the roses!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better!
Blessings~
Kris
Your illustrations were so appropriate for your post about the choices we make. Take care, and choose to rest when you need to! (That's advice from a nurse!)

ReplyDeleteGod bless
