A Time for New Beginnings!

Hello there lovely people.  I have so missed you guys.  Are you looking forward to the New Year as much as I am?  Its a time of new beginnings, changes for the positive, changes for good, for health, for improvement.   I have in the past made a New Year's Resolutions list and ... well... they tend to be the same every year.

Last year was the first time I chose to select a scripture.  One that I could try to live by.  One I could try to aim for.  This year, 2011, it was  Matt 6 v 33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Well, I feel that many times this year this scripture is one I have held onto.  I believe it has helped me to grow and have a better attitude and better priorities with regards to my practical and prayer life.  This new year, 2012, the scripture I have chosen is Isaiah 43 vs 18-19:  Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. (19) Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth:  Shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Wow, what an amazing scripture.  Full of promise, positive and life-affirming!  I am going to hold onto this scripture for 2012.  I am trusting God for restoration and vindication.  I am trusting God for the promises I believe He has given us.  I am trusting Him, because His word says to do so and I know that I am not capable of bringing these things to pass, only God is!

What is your New Year's resolution?  I encourage you to seek a scriptural one.  One you can lean on when feeling low and defeated, one that will help restore your faith and hope in our God eternal.

God bless precious people
You all have changed my life for the better
God bless
Tracy

  1. I have not looked up a Bible verse. Today or tomorrow I'll look for. Thank you for the good start. I think it's a great idea.

  2. Hi Tracy; welcome back!

Year 2011 will bring with it many treasured memories, and I am excited for a New Year of more dreams to come true!

My newest verse for memory is: "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:18) Our radiance must shine for His glory! :)

Blessings and love my friend for a New Year of dreams, friendships, and new memories!

Your new verse is a good one. This is a great idea instead of a New Year's Resolution.I never keep them anyway!

  4. That is an awesome idea :) I've never thought of it. I have some resolutions, but none of them are scripturally based. I'll have to change that. LOVE your new blog background, btw :)

  6. I LOVE that scripture Tracy! Just yesterday I went for a walk and asked the Lord for a motto or scripture for 2012... I have done that for years, it really helps me to focus!

  8. Hi Jedidja - so good to see you here. I have found doing this far more helpful than a whole lot of resolutions that I never achieve

Hi Denise - glad to be back. thank you for all the kind words. I pray a very blessed 2012 for you too :)

Hi Chelle - I so agree! I never achieve them either. Glad to be back :)

Hi Kelly - thanks! i finally found one I can look at for longer than 5 minutes and be happy with it, the background I mean :) Yes, making our resolutions biblical is an awesome idea, one we can try to reach for all year round.

Hi Kristin - i'm sure you'll find one that changes your year. :)

Hi Marja - it certainly helps one to focus.

Hi Jenifer - thank you, its taken me quite a while to settle on something I like :) Think I saw this scripture over at your blog!!!

Ladies, its so good to be back in the swing of things. Heading over to catch up with you
    God bless

  9. Hi Tracy:

    Welcome back! You were missed.

The scripture you selected for 2012 is one God that has really touched my heart. I also have a verse and "word" for 2012. I will be posting tomorrow.

Blessings to you this coming new year.

  10. I don't do News Years Resolutions - they seemed trite and always focused on what was bad about me I needed to change - not encouragement. A few years ago, God started putting themes on my heart - there was The Year of the Great Challenge, The Year of Standing, The Year of Refreshing, The Year of Walking. These themes never begin on New Years - but sometime during the year.

I like your scripture plan - and your scripture is one I've been thinking on. You've got me pondering now!

Wishing you a very blessed New Year filled with sweet surprises from the Father!

  13. Tracy,
I haven't been around much. I found myself in a place where I needed to stay right by my Father's side for a season. He never left my side and has brought me out of a tough season full of joy and hope. My hope for 2012 is to be a beacon for Him, to those who are lost, broken, floundering and hurt. Thank you for all the encouragement and inspiration you imparted to me this year! I'm excited to see what the next year brings for both of us!
    Happy New Year!
    Blessings,
    ~Erin

  14. Hi Joan - blessings to you too for 2012. Thank you for all your encouragement. I'm looking forward to your next post :)

HI Blue Cotton Memory - I so agree with you and this is the second year that I am not doing new years resolutions. I find savouring a precious scripture the whole year far more uplifting and life-affirming.

Hi Eileen - I'm glad! looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)

Hi Erin - thank you for your lovely words. I am glad that in some small way I encouraged you. You need to know, you have encouraged me greatly. God uses our hurts and the hard things we go through to encourage others. I, too am excited for what God is going to do this new year.

God bless wonderful ladies. I pray 2012 is full of fulfilled promise and that the Lord blesses you all abundantly.

  17. Hi Tracy! I missed your Wednesday link-up this week! I had relatives from overseas in for Christmas, grandkids, etc., and before I knew it, it was Thursday!

My New Year's Resolutions - put God in first place every day - even before my morning cup of coffee! And write every day what God is teaching me in a journal for my youngest daughter - her request for next year's Christmas gift to her from me!

  18. Greetings to you from a chilly Washington, DC. I haven't had much pc time but wanted to say "hi" and "I'm missing you loads". I haven't got a resolution for next year but am considering choosing established as my word for 2012. Still ruminating a little about it.
Will be on the ship for your birthday, so saying Happy Happy Birthday for that too. Hugs and kisses.

  20. What a wonderful idea! Rather than making promises to ourselves we know won't last, we can choose a promise of God that holds strong forever!!!
