Not for today! |
Well, I disagree and this is why:
- God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 8v13)
- People are still people and our problems, although in different times, are still the same, eg: jealousy, battles of the flesh, desire to be loved, desire for "things", insecurities, etc (Prov 30v5)
- God's word is tested, refined, true and pure. (Isaiah 40v8: "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands FOREVER.")

God's word is living! |
So in answer to the question, "Is the bible for you?"
ABSOLUTELY, definitely, yes and amen. The word is God inspired written many years ago, yes, but each and every word is meant as an encouragement, an exhortation, a warning, a teaching, a discipline, a guidance for each and every human who ever existed in the past, in the present and in the future.
WHY?
1 Pet 1 v 25: But the word of the Lord endures FOREVER.
My encouragement to you - read the word KNOWING it was written FOR YOU!
God bless
Tracy
Linking with Joan today at Reflections of His grace for:
When I was younger I couldn't see how the Bible related to me, but now, it has become God's love letter to me. :0)
ReplyDeleteSO thankful for your faithfulness to share God's word here~

Happy to be your 100th follower!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday, Tracy!

I find it sad that some people like to "pick and choose" what they will believe from the Word of God. The entire bible is for our wisdom, our encouragement, and our knowledge base for biblical living.
ReplyDeleteGreat Post!
I so agree with you, I especially love it when something just jumps right off the page and resonates within me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post! I can use it for a talk with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteRoos.
Absolutely! It is living and breathing and just as relevant today as when it was written.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tracy, for this wonderful post and for sharing it at the Grace Cafe today.
Blessings,
Joan
Yes, it is for me but there was a time I couldn't see how much of it related to my life. But thank God for enlightenment. I'm amazed just how much I've grown to love God's Word.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible is the greatest love story ever written. It is from the heart of God to each of us! I am so thankful for His Word.

I love that picture!:) Once I realized that the people in the Bible were no different than we are, my life was changed! Great encouragement Tracy!

ReplyDeleteMadame Wildflower - I so agree and this is why I want to dig deeper, so if I need to answer someday, I can give a balanced honest answer, not one derived from half knowledge. Great point

So many beautiful lessons in the Word. I can't imagine living as if they aren't applicable to us. It's our instructional manual and we would be lost without it!
ReplyDeleteAmen, the bible is for me and I claim it for my Truth everyday! Blessings Tracy!
ReplyDeleteThe Bible is God's Word written to us and for us. Every word is true and relevant for today. Love this truth, Tracy!
ReplyDeleteTraci, when I read the Bible just with my mind it was never for me. When I started reading with my heart it was ALL for me!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tracy for affirming that God's Word is always for us and that it is able to change lives if we are willing to listen and change as He leads. I have learned that it is also important to learn how to properly interpret the Bible, such as understanding the cultural context and the author's intent, and the type of literature. For example, one does not interpret poetry the same way that one would interpret narrative.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing God's words.
We can learn something from every book of the Bible. Even though the law (for Jews) is not for us, we can read about it and see how Jesus is the fulfillment of the law. Everything, even if not written expressly for us, is for our teaching and to further our understanding of a Holy God!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen - yip, our manual for life, without it we are stuck!
ReplyDeleteHi Heidi - great thing to do. I too claim it as for me, in Jesus name
Hi Lisa - I am becoming more aware of that daily
Hi Marja - great point. that might explain why we battle sometimes. Its about heart and mind, excellent
Hi Dolly - so true that knowing the context is important and it makes the bible make more sense too.
Thanks for visiting and commenting. I appreciate it
Hi Allison - yes true. and the more one reads something the more it makes sense ,no matter where in the bible.
Lovely ladies - thank you for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it

I love your illustration of the tree coming out of the Word. His Word is alive and we carry it with us. This is a beautiful post, Tracy. It reminded me that no matter what situation I find myself in, the living Word of God is with me!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
~Erin
Tracy,
ReplyDeleteOn my goodness, yes I have heard people say that, I used to be one of those people who said it. It wasn't until I started reading it that I realized, it is not a book with a bunch of rules to keep us from being happy, but a book that will set up free from the standards of the world.
Blessings to you Tracy
Amen! Excellent use of scripture! I am so sad when people don't understand that the Bible is significant for them today.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! The bible is for all of us. It is God's word, so much to uncover within His love letters to us. Thank you for sharing and motivating us to get in our word.
ReplyDeleteHi Erin - the word is alive and life giving. Amen
ReplyDeleteHi Kandi - great point, the word will set us free

Hi Misty - so much to uncover, so true. I don't think I will ever figure it out, always new stuff coming to light.

Hi Tracy,
ReplyDeleteLast night, I was regretting what I wrote as a comment because of the possibility of being misunderstood.
God has used all of the Bible (Old and New Testament) to teach me about Himself, myself and life. Over the decades, I have found that learning the context makes the text richer and brings new insights that I wouldn't have gained.
Thanks again for sharing your love of His Word.
Blessings!
I firmly believe the bible was written for me, a few years ago after reading the story of Abraham and Sarah- where He told her to lie about being his wife I found myself on day in a situation where I saw that story placed out in my life.
ReplyDeleteMy boss asked me to lie, which would cause the person to act according to that lie and make decisions based on the untruth. No I didn't lie, but as I remembered that story not only would I be lying(which was bad enough) would be causing someone else to stumble and sin. And I know I couldn't live with that.. So long story short - lol The bible is for me in todays setting.
Debi
Hi Dolly - nothing you said offended me and its so sweet that you were concerned. I so agree with you, the context can make all the difference between understanding and getting it wrong. Great point.
ReplyDeleteHI Debi - I'm so glad that despite how difficult it must have been, you chose not to lie. God will always honour righteousness. Thanks for commenting and visiting. I will be over to visit you back soon.
God bless ladies
