Are you Trying to make a Plan?

God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations and we all know that He did exactly that and Abraham is mentioned often with regards to his faith that God would do as He said He would.

After all, God is not a man that He would lie. (Num 23v19)

But, before the promise was fulfilled through the birth of Isaac, Abraham and Sarah made their own plan.

We all know Sarah offered her maid-servant, Hagar, to Abraham to fulfill God's promise.  They tried to make their own plan, and well, we all know how that turned out...

  • Hagar fell pregnant and got prideful and lorded it over Sarah
  • Sarah was bitter and jealous
  • Abraham was stuck with high womanly emotions and not prepared to sort out the problem for which he was partly responsible.
  • Ismael was born into resentment and could not have felt very welcome in his own home
  • In the long run, this "plan" led to long term enmity between Israel and Ismael's descendants.
Ultimately, God's promise came to fruition the way He promised.  But because they tried to make a plan, you know, help God's promise along, much hurt and devastation resulted.

God's way is ALWAYS the best way and all He expects us to do is to trust Him to do as He said He would do.  What we don't know is:
  • How He will do it, and
  • When.
But if we did, we would not need to trust, right!

God's timing is always best!

My encouragement to you - wait on God's promises with trust, patience and a knowing that He will do as He said He would do!  And trying to expedite it WILL RESULT IN TROUBLE FOR YOU!!!!

God bless
Tracy

  1. "Trust" in a nutshell:
..."knowing that He will do as He said He would do!"

    End of story! :)

    Loved this, Tracy!

  2. I get that but can agree with them, waiting 25 years I would probably have wanted to "help" God along too.
Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus...lalala.

  3. Hi Tracy,

What a wonderful message this morning; we should always have confidence in His wisdom, love, and timing. Waiting on the promises of God brings us life, direction, and hope! :)

    Trusting in Him! :)

  4. This is so true. I think most of us have tried to "help" God's plan along because we got tired of waiting, only to find ourselves in one big mess. Great post Tracy, Trust in Jesus, He knows what is best in His timing.

    Blessings to you.

  5. Hi Stacy - yes, and to say that to any lie from the devil, before his lies grip our hearts and help us make a plan!

Hi Stefanie - now that song is in my head - not a bad thing though :)

Hi Denise - yes, it is about confidence in what God says, amen

Hi Kandi - we have found ourselves in many a mess, 'helping' God. Trying to learn from it though :)

Ladies, thank you for commenting. I really enjoy and appreciate every one.

  6. Tracy,

You are so right! God's plans are always the best. When we take things into our own hands, our results pale in comparison...and often result in disaster. Praise God that we have a God that knows what is best for us. His plans are always trustworthy!

    Blessings, Joan

  7. Tracy, we just talked about this very thing yesterday at church. It's so tempting to try to "help" God along with His plan. But He doesn't need our help, He just wants our trust. Great word!

  8. Tracy, we can be confident that God has a plan and a timing. Though not always easy, we need to wait on Him

  9. I have never been very good at waiting. Do you think maybe that's why God is "still" trying to teach me that??! Great post Tracy.
    Blessings...Chelle

  10. Wow...how hard is it to wait on Him? We think He's taking forever to do something, when in reality, He's working it out in His own sweet time :)

  11. We are so impatient! We want the plan and we want it now! Thank you for this warning to wait upon the Lord... I don't want the consequences from making my own plans. Blessings Tracy :)

  12. Hi Joan - that is so true, His plans are always trustworthy!

Hi Lisa - Amen, He does not need our help

Hi Jenifer - so true, our confidence should be in Him, sufficient to wait

Hi Chelle - don't worry, He is still trying to teach me too :)

Hi Allison - yes, working behind the scenes. We need to believe that, then waiting is easier

Hi heidi - so true, the consequences can be devastating. Better to wait

Lovely ladies - you bless me. Have a super awesome rest of the week.
    God bless

  13. I believe you are so right -- we must trust God not only for the dream, but all the steps that lead up to the fulfillment of that dream. I, in no way, want to help God along when I am not supposed to!

  14. Hi Jen - its so hard not to, but the consequences can be awful. So I too don't want to interfere with God's plans.

  16. This is so true and I always try to figure it out instead of just enjoying where I am. If I could let go the control, boy would it be so much better for me. I am a work in progress!

Hi Dawn - so true, I also hate to let go of the reigns. Great point

God bless ladies, I hope your day is blessed as you rest in God's plans for you
