James - The source of Temptations

James 1 vs 13 - 18

Who tempts us?  Anyone....anyone?  Yes, its the god of this world.  He and his cronies know human nature well and who and what to use to tempt us!  BUT, don't make the mistake of thinking God tempts us!

Vs 13:  Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God";  for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
Vs 14:  But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and entices
Vs 15:  Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
Vs 16:  Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

Well, its loud and clear - do not be drawn away by temptations!  Quickly turn from them, don't allow your mind to contemplate or consider!  Turn away from it and turn to God and His word!  Replace that thought with the truth of God's word!  Don't allow that temptation to grow - because it produces death to your heart and soul and sometimes, your body!

God's truth!

Vs 17 says in contrast that every good and perfect gift comes from GOD!

My encouragement to you is, you will be tempted, see it for what it is and TURN immediately to God, don't give it any time to grow in your mind.

God bless
Tracy

  4. I loved this book on James because it is so much like us the church of today...I did a teaching on James for a whole month took the entire book verse by verse and I tell you sis, I saw and learned some things that I am not proud of...James talked allot about how we are to be set apart and not gossip and not war with one another and yet we do just that..often times I even wonder will the church ever learn to get over this bitting and fighting and actually be like the church Christ said we are to be?

  5. We are tempted at every corner. Satan tempts us using every possible thing he can. But through God, we have the power to stand strong. Great post Tracy.

  10. Excellent post, Tracy. Reminds me of a quote by John
 Wesley, who
said,
“You
can’t
 prevent
a
bird
 from flying
over

    your
 head,
but
you
can
 prevent
it
from making
 a
 nest
in
 your
hair.”
    Blessings!

  12. Hi Tracy:

We are all tempted, but when we give in to that temptation, it leads to sin. You are correct, we need to turn to God and not yield to the temptation.

    Blessings,
    Joan

  13. Hi Marja - yes, and there is no shame in running - as fast as possible :0

Hi Anon M - ok, so no pressure :) James is awesome and I'm learning more about myself and how my behaviour brings God glory or not. Its a very meaty book as one commenter said.

Hi Pam - I love that. No birds nesting in my hair thank you!

Hi Deidra - for me too, thank you

    Hi Lisa - thank you

Hi Allison - that is so true, and I want my reaction to bring God glory not shame

HI Joan - turning away from the sin and turning to God I am learning are the only way.

Thank you all for commenting. It encourages me greatly and you are all precious.
    God bless
    Tracy
