X - X-ray

eXamine your heart!  (ok, thats quite lame for X but my options were quite limited)

Ps 139 v 23-24:  Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties, (24) and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

How do you know from your spiritual X-ray that your heart need attention?
Matt 6 v 21:  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

So, what is your treasure?

  • Things?
  • People's opinion?
  • Education?
  • Your body?
  • God's will?
God says He will replace your heart of stone with a heart that knows Him!
Jer 24 v 7:  Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

Our hearts can so quickly fill up with the rubbish and hurt of this world.  That is why the scripture says to guard your heart:  Prov 4 v 23:  Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence, for our of it spring the issues of life.
Guard your heart already!

eXamine your heart regularly - Give yourself a spiritual X-ray - guard your heart!

God bless
Tracy

  2. Tracy - So the truth. How quickly our hearts can fill up with rubbish. And what wisdom to pray...search my heart, oh God...and find if there is any wicked way in me. Love this post about purity, holiness, and sanctification...found in Him...and Him alone. Blessings ~ jen

  4. Hi Brandee - thanks for your generous comment. Will be visiting back soon

Hi Jen - so true. In one day I can find myself in such need of His grace and His word because of all the words I've allowed myself to listen to during the day. I need to be seeking Him more daily

Hi Stefanie - missed you too

Thanks ladies - always a blessing

  5. I think examine is good! I think we need to periodically examine our heart and see what is there. Is our heart following after God or the world? Is our heart lined up with the Word of God? Great post Tracy!

  6. I love the fact that he replaces our hearts of stone with the heart of HIS. When David said, "Search me O God, and know my heart" God was there just waiting to change it.! what a wonderful God we serve.

  7. Tracy, I love the way you used X... We need to eXamine hearts on a regular basis. And the way you laid it out using God's Word is perfect. So encouraging and convicting at the same time! Thank you, great post :)

  9. I think that's a clever use of the X. Great reminder. What we spend the most time focused on is where hearts will go. Thanks.

  10. Where is my treasure? We are asking similar questions today, Tracy. What excites or disappoints me the most? That is probably a good indication of where my treasure is. Definitely time for a heart examine. Great post!

  11. Hi Jenifer - examining our heart is good if we do it in the light of His word.

Hi Shanda - we do serve a wonderful God, amen

Hi Heidi - thank you for the sweet words. Yes, examining our hearts is something we must do regularly. I know I need to :) Its also important that I be honest with myself, otherwise I just fool myself.

Hi Desiray - great point about examining our OWN heart - we shouldn't be trying to examine anyone else's.

Hi Eileen - great point, I want my heart to full of Jesus, so much so that it squashes all the other stuff out!

Hi Lisa - Yes, god is definitely trying to get my attention - where is my heart focused. Your post certainly gave me some great points to use to check my heart.

Ladies - you have no idea how much your encouragement and input means to me today. I learn so much from you.
    God bless

  13. Hi Tracy~~Great post. The first time I read Psalm 139:23-24 I couldn't believe it. When I was young they always sang a song in church that said "Search me O God and know my heart today. Try me O Savior know my thoughts I pray", and so forth. So now I like that Psalm and get it!! One of my favorite verses is Ezekial 36:26...I will take out your stubborn, stony, heart...Love this post!!

    Blessings

  14. Tracy:

I'm planning to do an A-Z challenge beginning in September and I was already wondering what I would do with "x".

You may call this a lame use, but you wrote this beautifully. We certainly need to eXamine our hearts and guard them.

    Love this post!
