W - Wait

I am an impatient person.  I hate waiting!  If I know I'm going to have to wait for someone, then I plan it in - you know, take a book or a crossword, something - so that I am not just inactively "WAITING".  Its the unplanned waiting that freaks me out.  "I'll only be 10 minutes, promise!"  40 minutes later - yeah right (10 minutes).  I'm getting anxious writing this!!!!

That been said, I don't like to make people wait for me either.  I hate that too!   Makes guilt rise up and guilt is so good at squashing joy!

BUT

We are to wait on God ... for His timing is perfect!

He sees the big picture.  We only see our puzzle piece on the board of life.  He is busy putting things in order so that He can work in your life but what we don't see is how intricately our lives are woven around the lives of others.

For example:  You are in desperate need of funds and pray to God who hears but His word says .... (cue drum roll here ...), WAIT!  In the meantime, God is not 'waiting' for things to fall in place for you.  He is working things together for your good.  He speaks into the heart of a godly woman, who mentions a blessing opportunity to her husband, who miraculously got an awesome job which brings in much money, from a client who felt God tell him to use that contractor.  (breathe now)  The client could not understand why, but chose to be obedient.  Contractor/husband has windfall from praying for good business, hears wife's story about a blessing opportunity, feels led to bless you, who prayed for funding (6 months ago!!)

It may not have happened on the "day of the prayer" but God heard - God moved - God answered and (in my example above) at least 4 people were blessed by being used of God, by being obedient to His prompting.  And let us not forget the testimonies of all the above people!

Waiting does not mean silence, as in God is ignoring you.  It means - wait - its coming and it'll be good!

Ps 27 v 14:  Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!

My encouragement to you - try to keep your attitude good in the waiting.

God bless
Tracy

  1. I am not so good on the waiting either. I don't mind too too much if while I am waiting I can see things happening, but waiting and seeing nothing that uses up so much faith.

  2. Good post Tracy; and very valuable words for me to hear! :) I am a very impatient person who hates waiting also, and must remind myself that He wants us to see Him in the center of every circumstance and wait patiently on Him so that we are better able to see Him at work and receive the blessings He is waiting to give. :)

    Perfect choice for "W"!

    Have a Merry Monday! :)

  3. Tracy,

I am a horrible waiter. I love this post today because I am waiting for a prayer to be answered and it seems like when we wait on God it takes so much longer than we thought it would. I especially love the part where you wrote that witing on God does not mean He is ignoring you, but wait because it is coming and it is good.

    Blessings to you Tracy.

  4. Oh Stefanie - you make me laugh:)

Hi Jedidja - ek ook! Al is dit nie maklik nie!

Hi Denise - so true and i love your "have a merry Monday" You too!

Hi Kandi - I know how you feel. Sometimes you feel maybe your prayer or problem isn't really that important to God but He cares even about the number of hairs on your head, and the sparrows, what they eat. So, its then faith to know - His answer, His solution, is coming and it is good.

Thanks Ladies for the comments. they always encourage me.
    God bless

  5. I've not been a good waiter either but I've learned over the years, sometimes that is best and blessings come from the waiting. I just waited 6 months for an answer to prayer and WOW! God knows best!!! :)
    Have a great day!

  6. Tracy, I stink at waiting! But there are so many lessons He wants to teach us in the waiting. Thanks for the reminder to wait with my heart open.

  7. Tracy,
I loved your post today. Waiting is so very hard...especially since we can't see the beginning from the end. But I agree...sometimes, the waiting isn't all about us. In God's perfect timing and in His perfect way, He orchestrates the details of not only our life..but like you so beautifully illustrated, the lives of others, too. Even in the waiting, God is working in our lives. Lord, give us patience to wait.
    Great post!

  9. I am not the most patient person either. So it can be tough learning to wait on God. But He always knows best and will never do anything to harm me. Great post.

  11. I have learned to use any waiting as an opportunity for prayer. It changes everything about that moment (or minutes) in time.

  12. Hi Kristin - it is so true that if you decide to wait in faith, the outcome is always the best. God knows us so much better than we ourselves

Hi Eileen - I like that, the lessons He wants to teach us, its so true.

Hi Stacy - thank you, the waiting can be very hard. I love when I found out how God did what He did, you know, like when worldly people think its co-incidence, no its God working a miracle for someone, somewhere.

Hi Heidi - thank you, glad you were encouraged

Hi Jenifer - yes its true, even in the waiting He is working things together for our good because we love Him and more importantly, He loves us.

Hi Deidra - it helps to believe He is working on our behalf - all the time.

Hi Stella - that is awesome. Next time I get stuck waiting for someone - I will use it as an opportunity to pray - and in the big waiting lessons too.

Ladies - you are all awesome. thanks for commenting.
    God bless

  13. As I am not a very big fan of waiting either. Sometimes, it can be so hard to wait because we don't know what the outcome is going to be. Sometimes, it can be something you want, but at other times after you wait, it can be something that maybe is needed (by God), but in our estimation, not needed by us.

In any event, we can't avoid waiting, so the better we learn to deal with it effectively, the better off we will be (at least hopefully). :)

  15. Great post, a lot of the time when we don't receive a quick answer or response from God we think- well that wasn't a 'yes' so it has to be a 'no', but we forget that there is more to an answer than a 'yes' and a 'no'; the 'wait'. It is a response non the less and requires patience. Its times like these I wish I could see a status bar indicating just how long!! But i guess if there were one, where would faith come in? Wonderful verse too, thank you.

  17. I'm not good at waiting either, Tracy. But I'm learning that God's way and time is always best. I will wait for Him and I'm trying to be patient. :)

  18. Hi Anon M - A status bar would be so cool, I could do with that, but then that kind of cancels faith I suppose. I like how you say that no answer 'yet' is still a response

Hi Liesl - so good to see you here. Hope you enjoy it

Hi Lisa - You are so right - God's way and timing are the best so practicing patience is definitely more to be desired than 'doing it our way' because of impatience.

Thank you all for your comments. They mean a lot to me and encourage me. God bless
