M - Mountains

What are the mountains in your life?
What do you feel you have to overcome?
What weighs you down and burdens you?

What does a person do with a mountain?
I would gather from various TV programs and T-shirts dedicated to mountaineering, one would climb the mountain.  One would train, get fit, get the right clothing and gear, practice on smaller slopes

And then -
Go tackle the chosen mountain!

Climb it - summit it - conquer it!

Then, um, walk back down?

My point is -

  • God has given us the right gear for mountain climbing - His word.
  • He has given us the right clothing - His armour for spiritual warfare along the way and the cloak of righteousness for favour
  • He trains us  - with smaller slopes, gentler mountains (smaller problems to overcome)
  • And then He says - go for it - I am with you to guide you - go conquer that mountain.

So, off you go, climb your mountain - summit it - conquer it, place a flag on top that says "To God be the glory - He has given me the victory!"

And then, you walk back down.

At the end of the expedition you receive a T-shirt that says "Overcomer through Christ".  Because of your victory, because of your Saviour, because of His supply and guidance - you will be able to tackle the next mountain!

Rom 8 v 37:  Yet in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

God bless
Tracy

  1. My favorite is the fact that he helps us climb the mountain; that we can do all things through Him that strengthens us. For, left to myself, I am weak and my energy and stamina give out.

  2. I am so much lazier. I'd tell the mountain to fling itself into the sea and then standby and watch.

Thank you for your continued words of encouragement! :)

  4. Love it Tracy! :) To overcome our fear of climbing that mountain in the first place, we must first acknowledge what it is that is holding us back, then we must bring it to God and go forward in obedience. That’s the only way to conquer fear. :)

Have a blessed day and week ahead. :)

  7. I love your 'mountain' post Traci. Sir Edmund Hillary said "it is not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves", I like that too!

  8. I loved it when you said, 'place a flag on top that says "To God be the glory - He has given me the victory!"'Reminds me of the verse in Psalm 50:15- "And call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you SHALL HONOR AND GLORIFY ME."
God says He will never put something in our path we cant handle, but often we forget that once He enables us to conquer it to give Him the Glory! We should be the one that goes back and rejoices in the victory, not the nine that forgets. Very encouraging, thank you.

  11. Love the flag on top! Amen Tracy. So enjoying your alphabet series. I'm catching up on my comments, though I have been reading them all. I loved your guest post as well. I love that story. I had forgotten about it, so I'm so glad for the reminder. It is good to think that my brokeness, my cracks, can produce beauty in the right Hands.

  13. This is great Tracy!! It seems at times some of those mountains are so high the air is really thin! Then the Lord gives me the proverbial oxygen mask and tells me to just...
Breathe in and Breathe out. I'm a slow learner sometimes.

    Thanks for the encouragement.
    Blessings in HIM...Chelle
