Proverbs 27

Vs1:  Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
There is this secular song on the radio (don't know the name) and the first 2 lines of it always get my attention:
"My best friend gave me the best advice, He said each day's a gift and not a given right"

I think this speaks volumes about this verse.  Each day is a gift.  One we should be thankful for.

James 4 v13-14 says:  Come now, you who say 'today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, but and sell, and make a profit'  whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

The next verse answers how we should speak about the future:
James 4 v 15:  Instead you ought to say, 'If the LORD WILLS, we shall live and do this or that.'

Vs 2:  Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
Don't blow your own trumpet!  Let what is good about you be heard from the mouths of others.  Don't you feel so much more blessed when you hear something good has been said about you?

Vs 9:  Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man's friend does so by hearty council.
I want to be a friend whose council is a delight and to my friend.

Vs 19:  As in water face reveals face, so a man's heart reveals the man.
What is in the heart comes out the mouth and so his true colours are revealed.  Best we start filling our hearts with God's word and character and push all the rubbish out and replace it with good.

What is in your heart?

What do you lovely ladies think?

God bless
Tracy

  2. You have hit upon two of my favorite verses in Proverbs; verses 27:1...I have always tried to live in the moment so I can relax and enjoy whatever circumstances that He has planned for me! And verse 19...What comes out of our heart is a true reflection of the real person people see, and the more that we are in His word the more lovely our heart becomes!
    Have a blessed day Tracy!

  5. Tracy,

I love verse 27, even though I am not very good at that one, but I am trying. And I love #19, I was in the company negative person last night I sat and did not say much about what was coming from their mouths, thank you for posting #19, it helped me put their words in perspective.

Blessings to you and your furry family Tracy.

  8. Wow...makes me think especially hard. If my heart is that visible to others, then i really need to make sure it is pure! Nothing is hidden.

  9. I always think of each day as a gift too. I think that's why I loved Ann Voskamps book so much. It just emphasizes we don't deserve anything, but yet God shows His love all over the place to us, and I love looking for those "love gifts":) from the greatest Gift of all!

I did not realize you were from S. Africa, how did I miss that? Isn't so awesome how blogging connects us to wonderful people, such as yourself, from all over the world?!
Wish I could come visit you:)

  10. I agree totally! I notice a HUGE difference in my behavior/what comes out of me or from me, when I have strayed form God and His Word. I like myself so much more when I am filled with His Spirit!

The beginning of your blog is a great reminder for me, I'm such a big planner! LOL My blog post today has a little bit about "planning" :)

Thank you for being such a light to all who read your blog. God bless!

  11. Hi Maria - I'm trying to train myself to remember to thank the Lord for each day gift He gives me! Thanks for visiting, have visited back.

Hi Kandi - I was listening to a negative person today and thinking - wow, that must all be in their heart. Makes me think about mine.

Hi Jenifer - amen to that!

Hi Glenda - I'm starting to realize how much of what and who we are is about the heart, thanks for commenting.

Hi Shanda - me too. I'm starting to think before I speak (when I remember!!!)

Hi Kristin - I'm also reading her book and enjoying it but finding I need to be in a concentrating frame of mind so I don't miss anything. Yes, South African, thats me. If they have'nt started planking here I'll tell them to give you the credit!

Hi Victoria - I am a planner, i admit it. And a list maker, not that I always stick to it, but I try. Have added you to my prayer list on top. Its true what you say, stay away from the word and whats in the heart starts to get a bit murky. and thank you for your very special comment. I appreciate it.

    God bless

  12. Tracy,

    "If the Lord wills..."

Now, there is the verse that strikes me. I am so prone to half listening and then going forth at full speed, but it's really about His will isn't it?

Always good to stop by and get some good things to think about!

  13. Hi Tracy, verse 19 definitely speaks to me! When I'm not reading the Word and talking to God like I should I'm sure everyone notices the difference. Not just in what I say but...how I say it. Sometimes I get a bit of a 'tude going on!!

    Blessings to you...Chelle

  14. Hi Amy - Yes I agree, its about His will and I also just get going and remember later I should have sought the Lord's will. The thing is to never give up.

Hi Chelle - Its a verse I think I'm going to add to my memory verses because its something I need to remember.

    God bless ladies
    Tracy

  15. Such a good reminder that each day is a gift. Sometimes I forget that until the day is gone, and then I realize what a privilege it was just to breath and see my family. Thank you for the reminder.
