C - The 4 C's

When I got married the pastor told us of the 4 C's:

  • C ommitment
  • C ommunication
  • C ompromise
  • C hrist
1 - Commitment
Prov 3 v 16:  Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.
To commit to something or someone is to dedicate yourself to it/them.  Dedication implies 100% effort.  God is completely committed to His children.  I reckon commitment is a conscious decision that one takes.  We should commit our mind, body, and soul to our Creator and Saviour.  And God calls on us to commit all we do, to Him as well, and He will influence our thoughts for our benefit.
Commitment implies trust

2 - Communication
When I think of communication with God, I think of prayer and reading His word.  God communicates with us in a way that we, the individual will hear.  If you are a nature lover, God will be found there.  If you are a practical person, God will speak to you in a practical manner.  If you are a writer, God will speak to you through words.  I suppose you could say God is committed to communicating with us one way or another!

3 - Compromise
In terms of relationships with others, I think to get on with people we all need to find places of compromise.  God says in His word that where at all possible, get on with people!

BUT:
God does not compromise!  His word is His Word!  We are not to add to it, or take away from it or water it down in any way!  If God says its wrong - its wrong!  His word is there to protect us and prevent us from falling into sin!  Its not a wooden spoon unless it has to be!

God sets high standards because, well, He is God.  God knows us and our fallible nature - that is why He extends He grace and mercy and forgiveness to us.

4 - Christ
Most importantly, Christ!  Without Christ we are nothing.  It is really that simple.  He is our Saviour, He died to save us.  He is our cloak of righteousness, so we are acceptable before God.  He is our example to which we strive to attain.

Phil 4 v 13:  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

My encouragement to you is to live your life in Christ, every day, every hour!  Without Him, everything we do is for nothing!

God bless
Tracy

The first verse is the one I'll be ruminating on today. Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. Love that!

  2. Amen Tracy!

I love the one on communication. I absolutely love to read but when I read something that is not the bible and it hits home with me I often wonder of that is God communicating to me, I guess it is.

    Blessings to you Tracy.
