A - Adoption

Adoption:  The legal act of investing with sonship

Israel's sonship
Deut 14v2:  For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

The Israelites are considered God's chosen nation, but because of their rejection of Christ as their Saviour, the door was opened to the gentiles to be brought into the family of God.  Upon acceptance of Christ as Lord and Saviour, we are adopted into His family!

What does adoption by God mean for us?
Gal 4 v 4-5:  But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
We are redeemed - bought with a price!

Gal 4 v 6:  And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
God is our father!

Vs 7:  Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
We are heirs of God through Christ!

When you accept Christ you receive the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out Abba, father - (see Rom 8 v 15)

When did God decide to adopt us as His own?
Eph 1 v 4-5:  Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.
When? - before the foundation of the world

Is this not amazing?  Awesome?  Mind-blowing?  How can we feel insecure knowing we were chosen before the foundation of the world?
I think therein lies the challenge - the KNOWING!
God chose YOU!
My encouragement to you is to come to the place of KNOWING your sonship in Christ.  You are not a last choice or second choice.  You were chosen long before your own birth.  God wanted you!!!

God bless
Tracy

  16. I love the verse you quoted about "no longer being a slave, but a son". That is a good one to remember when I am being too hard on myself for "missing a quiet time". God wants the time with me because He loves me, not because it is a requirement. Thank you for posting. I found you through Shanda's blog hop, and I would like to invite you to link into my blog hop as well. It is at http://adventuresintheordinary.com It is a Wednesday hop. I think you will fit right in with the crowd. Hope to see you again. Following now.

Hi Jackie - It so true that we feel we 'have to' do certain stuff to feel acceptable when God doesn't impose that stuff at all. I'll be over to check out your blog hop shortly.

Thanks ladies for the comments. They mean a lot to me and give me much encouragement.
