God goes before you!

God's got in all under control!
I was reading Mark 14 and these few verse stood out to me:

Mark 14 v 13-16:  13 So He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him.  14 And wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, 'the Teacher says, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'  15 Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared, there make ready for us."  16 And His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.

God's planning is awesome!
This is what jumped out at me:
*  A man carrying a pitcher will meet you, follow him.
God must have told this man - go walk into the city with a pitcher of water and 2 men will meet you, they will follow you -  He could have thought, 'ok, um, why?' or 'Won't I look stupid?' or  'What if no-one comes to meet me?'  We know from God's word that he did meet them and they did follow him.  So he was obedient to God's call.
*  And whatever house he enters, say to the master of the house, the teacher says where is my guest room...and he himself will show you a large upper room.... ready; there prepared for us.
Well, the master of the house did not know for whom he was preparing the upper room, but when prompted by God to do so, HE DID!  His wife could have asked him, 'what are you up to?  We are not expecting anyone.'  He could have said to himself, 'is this God's prompting?  Am I being daft preparing a room when I'm not expecting anyone?'  But despite any doubts he may have had, HE DID IT! In obedience to God's call.

God is putting all the pieces together
There is not one Christian who does not know about the 'upper room' and the 'last supper' that Christ had there. My point is, God was working behind the scenes all the time, moving people into place to fulfill His plans and purposes.  He is doing this for us all the time.  I am sure you can recall an incident in your life where something like this has happened.  Tell me about it.  I could make a tag with all these testimonies there where people reading them can be encouraged that God is always working for our good.

Rom 8 v 28:  We are assured and know that all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to His design and purpose.

Listen for God's prompting
My encouragement to you is if you feel God's prompting and feel stupid about it, go with it, because God is working a plan and He is involving you in it for His good purpose for us and everyone else.

God bless
Tracy

  1. I remember years ago making a full cooked supper, including roast chicken. When it was time to dish-up the family were all suddenly full and no-one wanted to eat. I was so peeved. Then a hungry family rang the doorbell and I was bale to hand it over and know that the food wouldn't go to waste.

  2. Catching up on my Brag on God reading & I glad I took the time to do so - I love that God is getting everything ready behind the scenes. A great reminder that even when it seems like nothing is happening it is.

  3. Great reminder for us. He is always working behind the scenes. I think people are too quick to chalk things up to coincidences when in actuality there are no coincidences. I think there is always a lesson tucked away if our eyes and hearts are open.

  4. Great post. We can't think like humans. And if He gives you steps 1-3 walk those out and then wait to see what comes next....do not presume to know what step 4 might be. Daily we must learn to connect with Him and hope to see as He does, to hear His whispers for that day and obey. Learning to trust...some times hard but we have to practice taking those risks don't we. Hope you have a grand day...whenever you are reading this. (c:

  8. Thank you for sharing this. I read it at the most perfect time: I'm so in need of just doing what He calls me to without hesitation.
I've been struggling with this a lot lately and truly needed these verses and your reflection of them.
    Thanks and God bless!

  9. great timing on this post Tracy. I remind myself of this everyday when it looks like nothing is happening I remind myself that God is working behind the scenes where I can't see it. It was ten years ago, before I became a Christian that I went on this mission to fix up my house, I couldn't be stopped, I don't why, little did I know that six months later God was going to move me. When the time came to sell my house it was all ready to go.
