Perseverance!

Consider the postage stamp.
It secures success through its ability to stick to one thing till it gets there.
-Josh Billings

What does the word say about perseverance?

Rom 5 v 3-4:  and not only that, but we glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance, character, and character, hope.

If what we go through produces perseverance, character and then, hope, that tells me that all tribulation serves a purpose.  To refine us and bring out the best in us and get rid of the worst.

Ever heard the saying, "Women are like teabags, you don't know how strong they are until they land in hot water!"

Eph 6 v 18:  Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere.

I think God is saying here to persevere in prayer.  Never give up!  Waiting for a break-through?  Waiting for an answer?  God's word says 'never give up praying - be persistent!'  Not only for yourself though, for others too!  I think God says to pray for others persistently too so that we don't get too inward and focus on ourselves  and our problems only.

Heb 10 v 36:  For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

What is this promise?
Col 3 v 24(a):  Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.

Heb 12 v 1:  Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

I reckon persistence/endurance/perseverance is the result of pushing through those trials and tribulations, to the finish line, eternity with Christ!

Be like the postage stamp - stick to it, the race - and get to your ultimate destination.

God bless
Tracy
