John 13 v 1: Now before the Passover Feast began, Jesus knew (was fully aware) that the time had come for Him to leave this world and return to the Father. And as He loved those who were His own in the world, He loved them to the last and to the highest degree.
John 3 v 16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Hebrews 12 v 2: Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Ephesians 5 v 25(b): ...as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
I think there can be no doubt that God loves us so much, whoever we are, and whatever we have done, that He gave up His son, as a living sacrifice for us, to take on all our sins so that we would not have to.
How should we respond to that?
- We should be humbled
- We should be in awe, can you imagine doing that for someone?
- We should give our all to Him, mind, body, soul
Maybe that should be our response to the Lord's ultimate sacrifice. "Wow, thank You Lord - I love You" and "what can I do for You to thank you?"
