God - The One you can trust

Verse: Psalm 18 v 30:  As for God, His way is perfect!  The word of the Lord is tested and tried;  He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.

Verse:  Psalm 19 v 7:  The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the whole person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

Sometimes I am so confused about ‘stuff’ and I feel the only way I am going to figure something out is to go and talk to someone.  I sometimes feel I am broken and don’t know how to get fixed, like I need counselling or someone else’s help to put perspective on something. Well, who do you talk to?  Someone you trust?  Well, one’s spouse is a good place to start but sometimes the things that confuse you are a non-issue to them.  Someone in the church?  The person who is considered trustworthy has probably got so many confidences to bare and people to be there for that I would not want to add myself as another.  I am not trying to belittle the use of or importance of counsellors or the need to talk to someone.  I just felt for myself that there was no one I felt confident talking to.  Family for me is also out.

Then in my quiet time I came upon the verses above.  There is only one source a person can go to where complete trust is not an option, it’s a given!  God!  I thought, ‘How can I go to God?  I know He is all knowing and has all the answers but I want to talk it through with someone.’   The part of the scripture above that got me was the part that says; “The law of the Lord is perfect, RESTORING THE WHOLE PERSON;…”  It made me stand up and notice.

What does that mean?  Well for me it meant that as I read and focus on God’s word, it will bring healing and peace, understanding and knowledge, TO THE WHOLE PERSON that is me.  In other words, for whatever my issue is today or any other day, God has the answer.  God may only show me one step at a time but when I look back, I will see how He has brought healing and completion and peace and grace and problem solving and wisdom into my life as and when I need it.

Proverbs 3 v 6 saysIn all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
That tells me that as I strive to do things God’s way, He will make the path I have to follow easier to find and negotiate.

My encouragement to you is, God’s word is trustworthy, proven and will bring healing to your whole being, spirit, body and soul and guide your paths in His will and God wants good things for you as any parent wants for their child.

God bless
TKT

  1. I agree that we need to look to God first, but sometimes I need to chat things through with a friend, a safe friend, have her pray with me and even just by talking I work through issues and come to certain realizations.

  2. Thank you . You write beutifully, do you know that? I find when something's so important to me, and I am passionate about it, I write more easily. KUDOS. And: so much truth in what you're saying. TY...-Ali

  3. This is so good. I am a talker myself. I like to hash and rehash things with people I trust, but you are right... God is the best confidant and counselor we could ever have. I've been asking the, "What about this?" and "What do I do about this?" questions. Before I can verbally or mentally finish my questions, the reply is the same, "Trust Me." This control freak needed this post today. Thank you for sharing.

  4. Hi Pinks - so glad you came by and commented. I also find it hard to talk to God about things but have learnt - He is the only one I can trust.
